You simply press add object in the actor section like when duplicating.... ? oh right add model too.... and press Abilities in the unit to add abilities.... then just select your unit in the token of the actor.... and give actor and models same ID is usually recommended.... and select Actor's Art-model to your model
OK. You have to either create a custom actor or duplicate one. Then set the [Unit Name] field of the Actor in the upper right corner to whatever your custom unit is. This will connect the actor to the unit and then the actor will appear in the unit field. You can do this the same way for sounds, etc (as far as I know).
Ok, so, I created a custom Unit and tried to link a model to it by giving it exactly the same name, but it didnt work. Is there anything else I need to do?
Well, I have looked at existing units, but I cant get clue from it. So can some explain how exactly I link models and actors and all that stuff to custom units. Or give me a link to a tut abou it.
Here. How to import a custom model and make it a model-actor(doodad), and brief explanation on unit-actor-model creation too. It's quick and dirty, but hopefully it answers your concerns.
What you need to think is.. "When I make something, do it in reverse".
Example, NORMALLY while working with a unit you think in the mindset:
Unit -> Actor -> Model
Unit -> Ability -> Effects / Behaviors
This is how you should mentally think of the links, and how everything hooks up. Going to a Unit and looking at the Object Explorer shows all the links to the above items for easy referencing.
But when you make it, you'd go e.g.
Model -> Actor -> Unit
Behaviors/Effects -> Ability -> Unit
When you're done, you can look at unit to see if everything links right.
I am kind of in the same boat as Nebruzias. I understand how to import my custom model, rig, and animations. I created a new model object, loaded the model i wanted. I then created an actor with the same name as the model object, this linked the two together.
But when I create my Unit object, it is not linking to my actor/model. Do you have any idea why this would happen?
If you made a custom unit in the data editor, without duplicating it. How do you add models, actors, abilities and stuff like that to it?
Seems no1 knows :(

Well, the thing is. When you added object in the unit-section (So, making a unit without duplicating it) There isnt any actor or model section in it.
Same problem for me. Can't figure it out <.<

Ah thats the way it works
Thanks m8
