Hey all. I recently started work on a custom arcade game for Starcraft 2, and have hit a bit of a stumbling block. I want to create a hero who, upon leveling up, is given access to skill points (add a point to a skill to increase it's efficacy), and stat points (add a point to increase strength, dexterity, etc) similar to Diablo, and Diablo 2.
However, it's several years out of date, and appears to cheat the system a bit, in that it doesn't modify a hero's "stats" so much as simply add buffs to that unit instead.
this IS my first serious hero, so I may be inferring incorrectly. But any help with this would be much appreciated! I would even be willing to pay in both respect, AND admiration! (What a deal!)

Uh, is this a question or just a comment? almost all the old tutorials are still good, and if the tutorial creator is current, they usaly mark it as outdated which can still be good.
Interesting. It was my impression that GE had changed significantly since the beta, and initial release versions. Thanks for the info! I didn't want to start getting into a tutorial too heavily, and find out later that something had changed and make the work invalid.
edit: oh jesus, I just realized I forgot to ask my damn question...
My question was just if there were similar tutorials available that dealt with these kinds of mechanics...

I've found a tutorial that shows almost this exact thing that I want; listed here: http://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/resources/tutorials/23108-data-select-attributes-when-hero-levels/#p6

Adding buffs with type "attribute"= modifying stats whats the problem?

if you wanna know about heroes, add campaign depencies and look for "test", there is a test hero having everything a wc3 hero had.
