Hi I'm very new to modelling and I've finally created an object that looks like a boat but I don't know how to add texures. The object is an editable poly and its all one element. I don't know if this is the right way to go about this.
I have only finished the hull of the ship so if its wrong I can still go back or break things apart. Also, is there anything special about adding textures for SC2 units?
To apply a material, you need to create one (sc2 standart type in our case), and drag it to the mesh. To adjust the way material applied to the mesh, you need to add "unwrap uvw" modifier, it includes tools to edit uv map.
Here, in artist tavern subforum, some threads have (or link) video tutorials about modelling, you may be interested.
For example, this one was useful for me when I was learning modelling (there are few parts which cover comprehensively the texturing):
