Alright, so I am having a dickens of a time trying to find a way to convert some md3 models to m3 for a map I want to begin working on.
If anyone is willing to help me, or better yet tell me how to do it?
I have 3ds Max 2011, Mistful 3d Modeling, and Blender. All have failed me lol. I have been searching for the last few days for a way accomplish this.
Yes, the models have animations.
If nobody is willing to help me convert them, than I am willing to pay $$ to have them converted AND to ensure they are small enough for a playable map.
How exactly do I get these MD3 models into a workable format (.MAX or M3)?
Btw, Mistful 3d Model DOES open the MD3 models. However! The model is split up into 3x portions: head, upper, and lower.
Mistful 3D Model recognizes this when you even try to open one of them up and asks "do you want to combine all the sections to create one model?" However, if I click yes, instantly crashes Mistful 3D Model. However, I can open each portion individually.
Problem is, I do NOT know how to connect the pieces along with the animations etc. Where is the animation located? Is it still in the MD3 files or is it in that animations.cfg file? What about the skin, same deal?
Basically, I know absolutely nothing about this stuff. So any guidance would be VERY helpful.
But why would I rerip them andblose the animations in the process while potentially get poor looking textures (from what I read) when I already have all the pieces?
I mean there has got to be a way to take the files I have and make use of them. The information is all there.
The head, upper, lower, textures, and animations. Now, how can I combine that into a workable format for SC2 or 3ds Max 2011?
I have to download another modeler and save it from there than so be it. I just don't understand why there are exporters to md3 but not importers? Who is going to export their model to a dead game? No, the bigger demand is to take what was and port it to a newer game. Not backwards :/.

Thank you!
doesn't m3 exporter do that? could you attach an example of model?
M3 Exporter brings in a MD3 model and exports it to M3?
That would be AWESOME!
And yes, here is a sample model :).
no, it doesnt, just mdx and m2 ;/
So what options do I have?

you could try to rip them from the game by 3D Ripper DX program
but then you will have to animate them

Alright, so I found a script that made for 3ds Max 6 lol, but still works....kind of.
However, when importing the models, they are not connecting?
Can someone just tell me what is going on and how exactly I should fix this?
Are the animations there?
