Vexal Tower Defense
Update coming in the future.
Tower Defense.
Featuring:
- 43 levels, including bosses with special abilities unheard of in a WC3 Tower Defense.
- Some levels have special abilities, again, which were unheard of in WC3.
- Unique towers which were not possible with the WC3 editor, such as towers with the Carrier's Hangar ability, upscaled to store an unlimited number of a variety of powerful units, or Sunken's ability to stack and uproot towers.
- Two unique races, Humanoid and Sunken. Sunken is currently a work-in-progress. The races are polar opposites in terms of play-style.
- Hero-Towers. Hero-Towers gain experience and level with kills, and are allowed to choose their own distribution of skill points, as well as purchase powerful weapons to equip.
- Three modes of play: Full Team, Left vs Right, and Solo. More modes are currently in the works.
- Intense difficulty. You will not win your first try. You will not win your second try. You will need a full team of coordinated players to make it halfway through my game.

Some notes:
- I usually am not able to actually test versions of my map privately. Due to the nature of Battle.net 2.0, in order to originally test this map, I had no choice but to upload it publicly in its half-finished form. It is still unfinished. Every so often (as in, every few hours, a few times a day), I upload a new version with a small addition (such as a new tower, unit, ability, or balance change). If I were able to complete this map in privacy before uploading it, I would. However, due to the fact that the maximum party size is 6, and this is a 10 player map, it is almost impossible for me to organize a full private game. I apologize if a version is uploaded with game-breaking bugs.

I have uploaded a map with the triggers and object data in my TD.
This file contains all of the triggers and data for my tower defense. Feel free to open and examine these. You may take any part of this map's triggers. You may reuse any of my methods for creating an object. However, I request that you not use any of the ideas contained in this map. You may use any piece of an object's data to learn how to apply a similar function to your own object. You may not copy the idea of the object itself.
If you wish to build your map ON TOP of this one, please contact me first. I will not forbid such action, but I have disabled certain function to prevent such from happening without studying the map. I did so because I am uploading this with the intention that people will use this map as a tool to answer specific questions, ie "how do I make a hero" "how do I make a tower launch units" etc.
I do not request credit on maps where parts of my map are used. I DO request that you contact me if this upload was helpful, and let me know exactly how it was so. So that I may keep track of whether this is useful to anyone.

That should fix it. It should also fix units which get stuck after attacking. Good job, thanks!
Alright, I confirmed that the below trigger works - I forced some units to go idle at random, and sure enough the trigger would 'notice' and correctly continue them to the region they should be headed to. Hooray!
I created a trigger like this, thinking it would fix stuck units...
The action is basically copied from the Continue Route trigger. Won't this fix any units that get "stuck", like the citadels frequently do?
Hi vexal - I realized why you only did one thing but I had to fix two....
When you deleted the terrain, a certain fill node prevent anything walking/building on any of the ground, which prevented the game from running the spawns, etc. I had to fix that in order for things to work.

I've been creating a TD map myself but triggers is an area I really am struggling with so hopefully it give me a better insight as t owhere I'm going wrong.
Do you have an actual TD map that incorporates the description above? It sounds interesting to play and I was wondering if you could upload it to the SEA servers. If you don't have an account there, I could upload it on your behalf. ^_^

I just figured why i like VTD way more than other TD games. You will not make it as a noob, but u will not be "overpowered" even if u are good. You may still lose if the team doesn't work together, and when u do you may achieve it to wave44. In other TD it's usually "you are either almost invincible or u lose miserably."
I think I only made one change to make it unplayable, and that was just to make sure people took the time to at least try and figure out what did what.

I think I fixed the things you did to make it unplayable, other than restoring the terrain (no need - i'm not trying to make a copy, just want to see it in action and tweak things to see if they do what I think!).
I now I know why I hate the round 27 bosses so much... "interesting rounds"

I have uploaded a map with the triggers and object data used in this tower defense. It is my hope that people wondering how I accomplished certain effects or who wish to learn to build a tower defense can learn from this upload.
Went against the Citadel's and they caught up to each other. The Citadel in the back got sucked into a vortex for about a second or two and kept on going like nothing was wrong.. Mind you this was at the last spot, so we though we failed to kill a Citadel. The first one kept going but at the end of the last spawn, the 2nd just stopped. I had a higgs there shooting it while it was stopped. It eventually started moving backwards and we killed it. No idea what happened lol.
both 46/47 are possible if you get to 43 in solo without losing a life,
take 3 more rounds of invincible marines to remove all your life hence they dont die till 46/47
Is there any chance in just adding victory conditions?
In just one game there were two people with past 44 in their stats. One was 45 and the other was 47.
I saw someone that got to level 46 according to the in-game message - he said he was playing solo and had a lot of lives left.
Of course, anyone can edit the xml file that records that information, so meh...
I see 2.21 is out - off to try it and see what the changes are :D
I know in one game we indefinitely stalled the invincible marines by walling them off until people started to leave.
Also I had an interesting idea that in a sense could help solve some of Sunken's AA problems. Why not give the Hero an AA weapon that he can buy and equip? I mean at the moment the only real build people do with their heros is the pulse rifle. I think it would be interesting if the hero was more prevalent besides just the pulse rifle and adding a few new weapons like an AA weapon would certainly help. Other ideas for the hero might be a weapon that is really slow but has a really large splash damage or maybe a melee type weapon that does a lot of damage to whoever walks next to the hero.
Either way I would consider increasing the amount of bonus the hero gets per stat. I mean towards the end of the game, barring the pulse rifle, he doesn't really do anything. Even with a lot of speed and attack he still hardly dents the enemies towards the end of the game, and it seems odd that your hero is rather useless if you didn't build him for a pulse rifle.
I heard a rumor someone made it to 46. Not sure how.
Although, perhaps in solo mode, since you have 45 lives, and only 15 spawn per round, if you beat the entire game solo without losing anything, you'll have enough lives left to endure 4 rounds of invulnerable marines.
Just played a pro game. No lives lost until Invulnerable Marines. Just gotta beat Insane Insane now :O
