Verdant Skyway
As a Dominion Commander your mission is to uncover ancient Xel'Naga artifacts on a jungle world held by Protoss forces.
Those of you who played my previous maps know that some people encountered an issue with the enemies not attacking. The issue seems to be caused by playing the map via the "test document" option from the editor. Until release or I publish, the work around seems to be to drag the map file onto your sc2 exe icon. Thanks to Ultraling for this tip.
Also, you may know that I error on the side of my maps being WTF-hard, so feedback is appreciated. I feel this level is easier though due to playing Terran, who have beastly base defenses. There are some cheat codes listed in the trigger editor too if you get stuck.
Otherwise, enjoy and thanks for playing!
All fixed up, cheers!
Can't wait for another terran map, love a challenge :)
Thats fine, gihuan. Just provide proper credit please :)
Ill be happy with anything u release mate if u got the spare time it would be nice to see another map like these
hello! i saw your reply.
I almost translate english to korean in your map's all speech.
but I don't know about make a trigger 'choose language' T T
so I made one more korean version map.
and if you allow, I want upload only korean ST2 site not here.
I'll wait your reply ^_^
Well hawklight, I had my sights set on learning the data editor and working on a campaign. But if there's a demand I guess I could think of another short-term project :)
any ETA on some new maps i just cant get enough of these :P played all 3 through a few times now there so much fun
@ rokit57 and general balance concerns-
I can see how it'd be frustrating as a player who doesn't know what's coming to beef up your defenses in response to the zealot/stalker-composed waves the enemy throws at you early on just to have an oddball dark templar or air army show up when you haven't built any turrets or other detection/AA.
It's been an unforeseen hurdle in my mapmaking to try to balance it with the unsuspecting player in mind. My own balance testing is thrown off by knowing I need those turrets, vikings, etc beforehand. I think my general conclusion is to have more consistent attack wave compositions with no oddballs showing up halfway through.
But also, keep in mind that the final result after release will include the capacity to save/load which should alleviate some of the woes.
Anyway, if I don't adequately revisit my current maps, then it's at least something I'm keeping in mind for future maps. Sorry for any frustration in the meantime! Continuing thanks for all feedback.
I was doing really well up untill that DT wave lol.
@Gihuan
The localization update I just uploaded should at least put it into proper English now. As far as Korean translations go, would you be translating them yourself?
If so, that's fine. I might even be able to put in triggers that switch the dialog to the Korean you provide if the player chooses that option.
But at the very least, I can upload the Korean version alongside the default version.
I took a stab at fixing the localization (the param/value/xxxx issue) using the sc2-localizer asset. I'm not too familiar with the tool and it may have bugs of its own. I'm also playing the map's default locale, so non-US users will have to let me know if it's fixed. Thanks!
Finally beat it after 6 attempts, my marauder army wasn't much use against the fleet, so i fell back to another base and just spammed turrets. Very well made!
Very cool map, best campaign style map Ive played so far. More fun than your zerg one.
Incredibly hard which is challenging and fun. But I feel it locks you into one playstyle. It feels like there is only one way to beat each challenge so the map ends up being a process of learning how to beat each challenge that is thrown up.
I could be wrong about this, but it would be nice if the map (or future ones) allowed a few different styles of beating the map.
Keep it up :)
Hello! I'm Korean ST2 user.
your map is all great!
but your maps word is all broken in korean client T_T
I want to translation to korean
Could you allow translation Verdant_Skyway,Dreadwind_Plateau,Vendetta to korean?
I will wait your reply ^_^
Lol I tried mass marines and medivac. Totally didn't expect the dark templars ^.^ haha, that butchered my forces as I tried to get a raven but then collosus's and other stuff came in. Haha boo.
Terrible map for anyone not in diamond league.
Just Completed this and imo its the easiest of ur 3 maps all i did was make a couple of siege tanks in the base which in hindsight were pointless then just went mass marine with 3/3 upgrades with 10-16 dropships to heal them and u just steam roll most of the level if u just keep producing marines once u hit 200 army, also 200 army marines look nuts!
Jeez that was extremely difficult lol. Got the first artifact haha and then tried to focus on constructing a good defense but when the void ray and immortals came in, kinda didn't exactly have much anti air and my tanks that I had just poured money into were useless x( haha. I'm sure I could do better though, although that was really crazy lol.
EMP has always canceled stealth. As far as checkpoints go, if you type "jump start" as a chat message, it skips to the base part.
Just tested it a few times, I do like it. Just like your other map, it's pretty hard for me, but still enjoyable to try and beat.
By the way, did the EMP always cancel invisibility of the DT et Obs? Or did you make it so in this map?
I'll come back after I try it a few more times.
P.S: Oh and thanks for allowing us to skip the text with ESC, because 1) Localisation not working, so it's non-sense, 2) Once you see it once, it gets boring. Checkpoints plz?
K, it's a localization issue. Hopefully Blizzard fixes that by release, but there are workarounds otherwise. I'll look into it.
