First of all, huge thanks to Ultraling and Maverck for having done most of the work and making this campaign possible. Both of them were awesome about letting me use their stuff to put this thing together. These are originally Ultraling's maps, found here in sc2mapster. I picked them up a long time ago and slowly worked on them, editing terrain, adding all kinds of flavor here and there, including Maverck's Brood War mod, and this is the result.
Features
- all 10 original missions + the tutorial
- original SC1 units and structures with original stats, including custom models
- original SC1 Terran soundtrack
- all the dialogue, voice acting & other miscellaneous text from the original campaign
- classic unit decals, such as Alpha Squadron, Sons of Korhal etc.
"Artistic License"
(some notable differences from the original campaign)
- Medics - to balance out the units Brood War style, and to provide more options to the player
- extra "hero" abilities: Kerrigan has the snipe ability, Raynor can replenish Spider Mines
- Mission 4 "The Jacobs Installation" - third person mode (optional)
- two difficulty levels - with a somewhat more aggressive AI than in the original, in order to provide some challenge to the average player

How to play
- extract the mod file (SC1BWmod) to your "Mods" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (NOT the folder under "My Documents")
- extract the map pack to the "Maps" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (create the folder if it doesn't exist)
- extract the Campaign Launcher & setup to the same "Maps" folder (not the campaign folder)
Campaign Launcher installation:
- launch the Starcraft 2 editor
- open the setup map named SCMRsetup in your Maps folder and click the "test document" button on the top right (or press ctrl+F9)
- wait until the launcher loads and you're at the title screen, then save the game and exit the map (press esc or F10 to open the game menu)
- find the save file (named "Starcraft - Mass Recall" by default) in (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Saves/VersusAI
- copy or move the save file to the saves folder under your account folder (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Accounts/.../.../Saves/Multiplayer (for example; any of the save folders will do)
- Done! You can now log into the appropriate account and load the save from the load game-screen. You can use this save to play each episode.
more info:
- You can copy the save file to whatever accounts you want. For example, if you want to play offline, copy it to your guest account folder.
- If you're unsure of the right folders or can't find the Starcraft II documents folder, log into an account of your choice in SC2, go to the load game-screen, click on a save and click the "show in folder"-button. It will take you to the appropriate saves folder.

Hi, I haven't gotten too into the campaign yet, but so far it's great. The only problem I encountered was that in mission 2 I couldn't build an academy and further into the map I could only get the first two upgrades( marine range and stim pack). In that same map I also found Infested Terrans that were white globes. I've put the mod in the correct directory, so I was wondering if it could be because I don't have the English version of the game, since I live in South America (Brazil), or it is something else.
Thanks a lot for the mod though, been enjoying it despite these two things. =D
@Bigcahill: Go
You put the Mod file at the wrong place. The "sc1mod" must be put in the "Mods" folder of your main Starcraft II directory (not in Documents).
Hi, I found out about this mod on recently, and became really excited about it. I downloaded all of them, but trying to play the Terran campaign, Jim Raynor is totally absent, which causes a near immediate defeat. Do you have any idea what could be causing it? I'd really love to play this.
Wow... i has some difficulty patching the game but when i did patched it to the latest version, no map error, all sc1 models are now present, no crashes, the game works perfectly.. i really should've seen that coming. When you made the campaign you probably made it in the editor with the latest patch .. for i had literally the lowest patch on my game hence all the errors and models and other.
Bottom line the patch fixed everything. Thank you and once again i do appreciate all the effort you put in this campaign.
Jimm3110's Russian versions of Rebel Yell & Overmind are out. Download links updated. If you're getting them, make sure you also pick up the new Russian mod version (v4.1). Enjoy!
jared8wally:
Uhh... all the download links seem to be working okay (even the 2.3 mod). I think you'll want the 3.3 version for the english maps, anyway.
Sulimen:
Hmm. "What in the hell" were my thoughts until I got to the end of your post. Yeah, an old version of SC2 is probably your problem. Can't think of anything else that would cause all of that.
Hello, i got a few problems:
1. On mission 1 "wasteland" i must quickly get into range to trigger the conversation with raynor because if i don't trigger it he is hostile and might kill a marine (if you go quickly he only gets to fire 1 rocket and just injure one of them).
Kinda the same thing on mission 2 "backwater station", raynor is hostile during the briefing and if i wait till the briefing ends he kills the 4 marines and the 2 SCV's. I must quickly start the mission so it can trigger off the hostility but still he manages to kill my marines.
Sometimes i start either as zerg or protoss (with the terran buildings given), for example on mission 2 when i research something i heard the protoss voice instead of the terran , and sometimes it goes into zerg on other missions, i think my starting race is random and probably thats why raynor attacks me.. not sure of it though.
2. I also had the "Unable to load map" error but i fixed it following Guajazyl guide (thx btw) and i hope that minor tweaking i did didn't intervene with the campaign (besides Working lol). However i need to drag every map to load it because i still get the unable to load map error only when i continue to the next mission. Are there any other solutions?
3. There are no portraits or unit model on the sc1 units, they are missing ingame. The portrait is blank, light blue square and the units are just a white globe ..there is no unit model, however the model is present in the editor but not ingame. The sc1 building researches and the sc1 units are blank too, even though i can use them with no problem.
I placed the mod in Starcraft 2\Mods and the Rebel Yell folder in Starcraft 2\Maps and dragged the specific map in the sc2 application, i don't know what i'm doing wrong (i know its in the sc2 directory and not my documents).. i clicked the map and mod separately on the page and then clicked the download button on the top right.
4. In some of the missions the AI is unresponsive. They are not gathering minerals nor attacking me (ex. when i must defend for 30, the zerg are not attacking).
5. Every time the sunken colony (spine crawler) attacks, my game freezes and gives me a "Don't send" type of error to send it to blizzard. I had to delete them in the editor to play it without freezing. Its only the sunken colony that gives me the error and not the spore colony too.
6. The Terran map "07" has a trigger error on the emitter 2 on the event tab. Apparently the unit/s on the emitter 2 has no property given on the event, is completely null.. so any minor thing i edit on the map and then save, it won't allow me to because there is no property present. However i added the "Acceleration" property and then it allowed me to save and i could play the map no problem. The same thing goes to Overmind map 02 (so far).
Does this mod support any versions of starcraft or just the latest one?
Btw great remake, i very much appreciate your effort into this.
Jones313 can u make a zip file for sc1 Rebel Yell the download mod is not working anymore can u make a zip file of 2.3 engilsh
Just letting you people know that any future updates for the english versions of Rebel Yell & Overmind will be done after the 5th campaign is out.
Guajazyl:
Huh. Well, recreating the map files like that makes sense, I guess... they seem to work fine for most people, but I'll see if I can optimize the files a little bit somehow for the next update. And yes, those are the loading screen options for the map, but I fail to see how that's relevant to anything. Thanks for the comment, though.
tamzar:
Thanks for the feedback.
1. I'll take a look and sort it out for the next update.
2. Whoa, first time I've heard that. The attack wave spawns are supposed to stop when you reach the top of the ramp. I've a pretty good idea what's going on there, though, consider it fixed.
3. Yeah that one's a little vague, I guess. I'll take a look at the original. I never really considered it a "real" objective anyway. You should never assume you're safe until the mission is over, though :p
4. 90? Pff, 85 at most. The Goliaths react to your attacks, but they can't be everywhere at once so simply drop somewhere else. As for the attacks, I'm not sure what you mean. As long as the AI is able to produce units, the attacks won't stop.
Wow this is a great job so far.
I'm playing throught the first terran campaign at the moment. Just a few things to say so far:
1: On the level where you must destroy the infested command center (2nd level?) the infested terrans show up as a white bubble with a dot of red on them - i seem to remember this from testing previous custom game maps and i think that is the default for when there is no model for it.
2: On the same level during the cutscene at the end where you are being moaned at for blowing it up - some hydralisks and zerglings unburrow out of the ground whre the CC used to be and advance towards the base - while this wouldnt be a problem if that was it, your units may be close enough to aggro some of the zerglings who will then destroy your entire force (who wont fight back) and if they reach raynor then you will fail the mission).
3: On the mission where you get kerrigan and have to get to the antigans and then defend them (5th?). Upon reaching the green beacon where you go to complete the "arrival" objective it also immediately completes the defend objective. This caught me off guard the first time as i believed that i had maybe killed the attack force on the way or it was simply a bug. Next thing i know a large force is destroying the back of my base and i pretty much die as im trying to attack the base (the next objective).
4: On the same mission as above, i dont know if there was some text or a cutscene telling me how to attack the base but if you hit the extractor on the east side with wraiths and then try and drop there a minute later there are about 90 goliaths waiting for you there. Another thing is how are we supposed to stop the attacks? i realised after the third or fourth attack that they were being carried over by dropships but they were replenished quickly after i killed them.
Thats all so far!. Good luck with the rest, you are doing a great job!
UNABLE TO LOAD MAP - there is actually a very simple solution for this problem.
Open a map file, for example Terran01 in your map editor software and once it is fully loaded save it as a file with a different name. I chose Terran01a for myself. Continue until you have all your maps resaved. This should help. Now drag a map to your Starcraft 2 game icon and enjoy playing.
However you might experience the same problem as before. But do not worry. There is also a way to make your campaign working.
Once again you will have to open each map in your Starcraft 2 map editor tool and choose "Map" -> Loading Screen option. There should be:
Type: Melee/Custom - choose Custom Tick the "Wait for Key" option. Image: choose any img you would like to see during loading screen. Image Scaling: Aspected Scale Text Position: Left OffsetX: 50 Y: 0 Size X: 800 Y: 600
Save the map as a new file - any name you want.
Now do it again for the rest of your maps.
Enjoy playing!
The link 404's. Please fix!
@Telenil: Go
Telenil i do not have options to choose difficulty on breafing screen. There is only Start, Cancel and Reply button???
EDIT: Ok i now have those options. I didn't know that first two missions don't have those options.
@Witchersx: Go
Hard is still there, you simply choose the difficulty by launching the map and clicking on "Start - Easy" or "Start - Hard" in the briefing screen.
@TerraStranger: Go
If the next map can't be opened, this means that your maps are in an incorrect position. The maps should be in their respective folders "1. Rebel Yell" and "2. Overmind", which in turn should be placed in your "Map" folder - so the path will be like Starcraft II/Maps/1. Rebel Yell/Terran01.
The maps of the protoss campaign, on the other hand, have to be placed directly in the "map" folder. This will be fixed in an upcoming update.
Hi guys, it is pleasant видетю the Russian version of your remarkable campaign and it is twice pleasant to play it on the native language. I so understand you used piracy translation from Fargus (for sound voices in briefings and some units at least)? That, it has turned out quite not bad though and is not habitual to hear it sound after original voices a little and at guys from Fargus has not done without mistakes in some places. However all this trifles is especial if to take into account, that I for a long time wanted to play campaign SC1 in Russian. Now I at last have got newer version of game (not license, butit is probably very close to it) and now the majority bugs have disappeared. Except for perhaps impossibility of transition from mission to mission to campaigns Rebel Yell and Overmind in which game gives out such message on a mistake: it Is impossible to open a map. In Episode III - The Fall here all works normally switching and transitions between missions. However in my opinion this campaign is too short you see as far as I remember in the original was where more missions.
Does hard difficulty is still present in last update or there is a option to lower game difficulty??
@PianoMonkey: Go
One might barely be able to fit stripped-down versions of two campaigns within the map publishing limits. So in theory, yes, but I think it's safe to say I'm not doing it.
Would it be possible to make a co-op version of the campaigns?
An updated French version of both Rebel Yell and Overmind plus the mod is now available, by Choum28. Also available, a Russian version of Rebel Yell & the mod by Jimm3110, Virussoft, Fargus & 7 Wolf. Jimm has also done some small fixes/adjustments and added a new model or two to the Russian version of the mod. Good work guys, thank you very much!
DEFILER:
When will I do the Protoss campaign? Uh, maybe never, if chris's campaign turns out good enough. Which it no doubt will.
@Jones313: Go
Ok probably i did some mistakes,but when u will do protoss campaign?Where is ultraling?
updated French translation and a Russian translation uploaded. More on that soon.
