First of all, huge thanks to Ultraling and Maverck for having done most of the work and making this campaign possible. Both of them were awesome about letting me use their stuff to put this thing together. These are originally Ultraling's maps, found here in sc2mapster. I picked them up a long time ago and slowly worked on them, editing terrain, adding all kinds of flavor here and there, including Maverck's Brood War mod, and this is the result.
Features
- all 10 original missions + the tutorial
- original SC1 units and structures with original stats, including custom models
- original SC1 Terran soundtrack
- all the dialogue, voice acting & other miscellaneous text from the original campaign
- classic unit decals, such as Alpha Squadron, Sons of Korhal etc.
"Artistic License"
(some notable differences from the original campaign)
- Medics - to balance out the units Brood War style, and to provide more options to the player
- extra "hero" abilities: Kerrigan has the snipe ability, Raynor can replenish Spider Mines
- Mission 4 "The Jacobs Installation" - third person mode (optional)
- two difficulty levels - with a somewhat more aggressive AI than in the original, in order to provide some challenge to the average player

How to play
- extract the mod file (SC1BWmod) to your "Mods" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (NOT the folder under "My Documents")
- extract the map pack to the "Maps" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (create the folder if it doesn't exist)
- extract the Campaign Launcher & setup to the same "Maps" folder (not the campaign folder)
Campaign Launcher installation:
- launch the Starcraft 2 editor
- open the setup map named SCMRsetup in your Maps folder and click the "test document" button on the top right (or press ctrl+F9)
- wait until the launcher loads and you're at the title screen, then save the game and exit the map (press esc or F10 to open the game menu)
- find the save file (named "Starcraft - Mass Recall" by default) in (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Saves/VersusAI
- copy or move the save file to the saves folder under your account folder (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Accounts/.../.../Saves/Multiplayer (for example; any of the save folders will do)
- Done! You can now log into the appropriate account and load the save from the load game-screen. You can use this save to play each episode.
more info:
- You can copy the save file to whatever accounts you want. For example, if you want to play offline, copy it to your guest account folder.
- If you're unsure of the right folders or can't find the Starcraft II documents folder, log into an account of your choice in SC2, go to the load game-screen, click on a save and click the "show in folder"-button. It will take you to the appropriate saves folder.

"Installing" in our case means putting some files into your SC2 folders, as described in the installation guide. You don't have to use any .exe, so your anti-virus will know that it can't possibly do any harm :)

At the end of The Big Push, you can choose on the score screen whether you go on with Operation Silent Scream or skip it. If you choose OSS, the level starts immediately, and the conversation only plays in The Big Push if you skip to New Gettysburg.
Hi. You will be adding hidden mission Terran . And my question is what do you do with the missions "The Big Push" and "Operation: Silent Scream", because they are mutually exclusive (at the end of the same conversation).
Should we back up our entire computer before installing all the files for the game? I have tried downloaded games on my computer before and on my older computers, the system would crash.
I just got a new Alienware gaming computer and I was wondering if it is better to have a Norton anti-virus system on the computer before installing any of the campaigns you have here?
@GermoDante: Go
Yes, we do. I'm not sure of how easy it is exactly, so further balancing may be done after the update is released.
Hey guys, amazing campaign! I was wondering if you have any plans of including a new "easier" difficulty for the casual SC player, such as myself. The campaign is great but it's way to difficult for me. Thanks a lot!
Hello,
As most of you probably know, we wanted to release The Update / HotS edition by the end of last year, but unfortunately it didn't work out like that (work etc.).
However, rest assured that we want to get this done sooner rather than later - but obviously what we don't want is to start half-assing things at the last minute and rush this out with a bunch of nasty glitches. We're real close - the gameplay is pretty much done, but overall it's not quite good enough yet. It's all about the small details at this point.
The biggest question mark, however, is a rather ugly text localization situation we have to deal with, which may or may not end up taking a significant amount of time. It's difficult to estimate, we'll just have to hope it goes smoothly. In any case, we're talking weeks. As soon as we're comfortable enough to set a release date, we will do that and let you know. It won't be very long in advance.
Thanks for your patience.
@executor64: Go
By all means, have a look, think of it kind of as a beta version. I'd definitely recommend waiting a couple weeks before you actually start playing, though.
not sure if to play now or wait for next update cheering for you guys :) blizzard if you were smart you'd do this sh*t yourself and earn some easy money
@Telenil, so when will the update be released? sense it was estimated to be released around Christmas time and all
@diasp11: Go
You can't. It would be possible to force English maps to use specific subtitles whenever they are opened by a non-English version, but that would make English subtitles permanently unavailable to these non-English versions. With 7 languages available, it wouldn't be worth mixing them anyway.
@Hockleberry: Go
Long custscenes will be skippable after the next update.
High templar storm whatever unit attacked them, whether it is a single zergling or a pack of mutalisks. But that's fine: a single zergling could kill an unprotected high templar anyway, and a player that uses careful micro to fight a high templar in melee deserves to kill him with minimal losses.
That said, the HotS edition will have the AI storm agressively in Hard difficulty. It is way too powerful to ever happen in lower difficulties. Even in Hard, it may have been too much if the player didn't have spawn broodlings to defend.
Just in case, check that you have the latest version of Queen of Blades. There was a bug in version 1.0 of the Kel-Morian mission that made the AI attack faster than it should.
How can I play English version (English voice of characters) with French or German interface and subtitles?
Cut scenes are awesome! But please allow us to skip them. I've had to start a few missions over and it's a bummer to sit through a cut scene I've seen already...especially the longer ones.
I noticed that the high Templar storm themselves to death. This is in the queen of blades missions. The hts wait until a melee unit is attacking them, uses storm and dies.
The Kel Morian mission is by far the hardest mission ever in all the starcraft games!! The attack waves are relentless and the terrain makes it hard to use melee units, I.e. Can't surround the units.
So loving the remakes! I've tried harassing day9 to do a playthrough! I think husky made it through a couple of episodes.
Jim Raynor (Vulture). Need to research as well as the standard units on the speed of movement speed (Ion Thrusters)
Firebat has a very interesting attack. During an attack on a building he almost always does 50% damage. The attack on the distance to it could cause units to 25% or 50% more damage, but it almost always comes in very close to the target.
Firebat inflicts damage not 16, and 8x2. Just in StarEdit indicated that he maximum number of hits = 3.
@Telenil: Go
Listed below, is some hero cooldown rates that are different from normal unit (with normal unit's cooldown for comparison).
Hero Cooldown
-------- Raynor (Vulture) 22 - (Normal) 30; Hyperion (BC) 22 - (Normal) 30; Infested Kerrigan 15 - (Normal) 8 (Uses Claws, just like Zergling); Fenix (Dragoon) 22 - (Normal) 30; Tassadar 22 - (Normal) n/a (Psi Assault only used by Tassadar); Zeratul 22 - (Normal) 30.30 = 1.8 22 = 1.32
Phoenix (Zealot). Attacks very quickly. Attack speed should be equal to the normal Zealots.
@Lyambda: Go
Zeratul too? Calculations made, that gives him 74 dps, or the firepower of 5 battlecruisers. Almost enough to take down the Torrasque in melee...
Hello. Zeratul, Jim Raynor (Vulture) Must attack 27% faster than the standard units.
As the Phoenix (Dragoon), Jim Raynor (Hyperion).
@CraftMasterTheBlackHayate: Go
As long as you mention where you got the maps, sure.
Can I use your maps to make my own modified version of the campaign (with optional objectives and new obstacles) and upload it on SC2mapster? I will be sure to give all of you guys credit.
The purpose of my project is to change the pacing of the levels a bit to feel more like SC2 campaign, (So you cant sit on one base build 20 carriers and win the mission with one push).
PS: I'm not very experienced with the SC2 trigger system and am likely to give up on this project part way through.
@Telenil, perhaps you guys need some more exposure maybe? ill help promote this if needed, it could also be to the fact that these missions are incomplete i guess, because you guys are always improving them and updating them and fixing bugs here and there and nothing is set in stone, like episode 3 for example that has to be remade from scratch now thanks to christdaughtery falling off the face of the earth from here and not fixing his bugs in his campaign, and yeahhh thats why i would rather much have it if you guys could make your own version of the precursor from scratch like the other campaigns, but at this point, im pretty sure thats asking to much right now with you guys doing the massive update on this and the 3 missions your adding in the terran campaign and the remaking of episode 3 the fall from scratch also, regardless, i do have a bug to report, idk you guys might have caught this or not but i was playing episode 9 recently and it seems when ever the zerg or protoss destroy a bunker, the marines automatically retreat from it and move a few yards up, its as if there on the move command but i never touched them when the enemy kills the bunker and its annoying cuz when the zerg kill a bunker, rather then the marines automatically attack them like they would if you dont touch them, they move back instead and i need to click on them and tell them to attack the enemy
@DingoDyno69: Go
We could potentially make cutscenes, improve the terrain and the like, but I'm a reluctant to work on someone else's work without formal permission - especially when it was among the maps featured by Blizzard. Writing that, I feel somewhat annoyed that Blizzard linked to those five missions but not to our sixty. It may be due to the fact that Precursors is small enough to go on the Arcade while Mass Recall isn't, but still...
@Danicela: Go
Well, it's always the same story: our mod is 150MB large (maybe 100 if you substract the soundtracks that will come with HotS patch 2.1), and I'm not sure the Arcade accepts such large files. You won't have any AI either, the attack waves are programmed separately for each mission.
