First of all, huge thanks to Ultraling and Maverck for having done most of the work and making this campaign possible. Both of them were awesome about letting me use their stuff to put this thing together. These are originally Ultraling's maps, found here in sc2mapster. I picked them up a long time ago and slowly worked on them, editing terrain, adding all kinds of flavor here and there, including Maverck's Brood War mod, and this is the result.
Features
- all 10 original missions + the tutorial
- original SC1 units and structures with original stats, including custom models
- original SC1 Terran soundtrack
- all the dialogue, voice acting & other miscellaneous text from the original campaign
- classic unit decals, such as Alpha Squadron, Sons of Korhal etc.
"Artistic License"
(some notable differences from the original campaign)
- Medics - to balance out the units Brood War style, and to provide more options to the player
- extra "hero" abilities: Kerrigan has the snipe ability, Raynor can replenish Spider Mines
- Mission 4 "The Jacobs Installation" - third person mode (optional)
- two difficulty levels - with a somewhat more aggressive AI than in the original, in order to provide some challenge to the average player

How to play
- extract the mod file (SC1BWmod) to your "Mods" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (NOT the folder under "My Documents")
- extract the map pack to the "Maps" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (create the folder if it doesn't exist)
- extract the Campaign Launcher & setup to the same "Maps" folder (not the campaign folder)
Campaign Launcher installation:
- launch the Starcraft 2 editor
- open the setup map named SCMRsetup in your Maps folder and click the "test document" button on the top right (or press ctrl+F9)
- wait until the launcher loads and you're at the title screen, then save the game and exit the map (press esc or F10 to open the game menu)
- find the save file (named "Starcraft - Mass Recall" by default) in (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Saves/VersusAI
- copy or move the save file to the saves folder under your account folder (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Accounts/.../.../Saves/Multiplayer (for example; any of the save folders will do)
- Done! You can now log into the appropriate account and load the save from the load game-screen. You can use this save to play each episode.
more info:
- You can copy the save file to whatever accounts you want. For example, if you want to play offline, copy it to your guest account folder.
- If you're unsure of the right folders or can't find the Starcraft II documents folder, log into an account of your choice in SC2, go to the load game-screen, click on a save and click the "show in folder"-button. It will take you to the appropriate saves folder.

Might have to do with the HotS compatibility issue, which they are working on now. Try it with WoL mode selected and see if the problem goes away.
I've been playing through the remake - awesome work, guys! I've met one weird issue, however. Every time I try to load an existing save game for any mission of the remake, the game shows up the loading screen for this mission, but as loading finishes, the game crashes with an DirectX/OpenGL error. I can play the missions normally and finish them, but if I save and load, it will crash.
It's not a big problem in the beginning, but I am not a very good player and thus I can spend about an hour or more for each mission by the end of the campaign. Starting missions like New Gettysburg all over again only because I left the game is ridiculous. O_o
I have not tested other campaigns, but the issue certainly exists in Rebel Yell.
HotS, patched to the latest version.
P.S. The "menu" map with campaign and mission selection loads up normally whenever I try it.
Thank you. It was a my bad on my part.

Episode 3 has a separate mod. Take a look on that page, because it'll have a link to the mod you need.
I meant The Fall, not The Stand.
Hey I wanted to let you guys know... for some reason, the editor will not open Episode III: The Stand.
The error I got was the SC1.SC2Mod could not be found.
Just wanted to throw out there that I'm still working towards upgrading those briefing backgrounds.. I'm just having a hard time finding the time to sit down and work on it. But it's on my to-do list! :)
@Miles:
Thank you. It works now. I just had that file in the wrong place.
I also noticed a glitch in mission 4. I managed to infest the command center to the south, but I'm unable to infest terrans. It says I must spawn more overlords regardless of my control amount. It's not a big setback, but I'm a little sad I'm unable to use the old suicide infested terrans I loved so much.

Just letting everyone know that things are happening, even though you're probably not going to hear about it much yet. There are only so many times people can play through the same campaigns, so we want to make the next update count. We're not completely focusing on one specific campaign at a time, either, so the plan is to get everything out around the same time.
At this point we don't know what the HotS edition will bring, exactly, but we have some ideas. Don't expect a different game - but rather more attention to detail, a few noticeable changes and a ton of subtle tweaks to make for an all around solid remake. The idea is that with the update, the whole thing will be "done".
This of course means that there's a very real possibility of no updates until sometime after the summer. Our current estimate for the new stuff is "in 2013". Don't hold your breath.
Thanks to Miles, Frankie and others for the tech support in the comments.
@ Miles- Um, can't seem to find this mod anywhere.
why in the original starcraft used units from broodwar?
@miles07 thank you for the quick reply.. it all works now.. thnx a lot :)
@Miles: Yes, it did come in a sub folder, but since there's no instruction on how to install the maps I placed them directly, then moved them back into a sub folder when that failed. It is up to date.
@ilagas1: Go
Use WoL. They are still reconfiguring the mod for HotS, so there WILL be problems with playing this using HotS. Use WoL until further notice.
@Meyerm: Go
Wait, the campaign maps weren't originally in a subfolder? Huh, then you better make sure you have the newest version for that campaign.
Also, it might help to download christdaugherty's mod (which is supposed to be deprecated for Episode 2, but it might still need to be there for some weird reason, meaning there's a bug in the mod), just to see if that works.
If that doesn't work, send me a PM.
When I try to make it run to editor, it gives me an error saying mod\SC1mod.SC2Mod could not be found.. or something that sounds like that. so I renamed the file SC1BWmod.SC2Mod to SC1mod.SC2Mod. Everything seems to work fine except that I could not build a barracks. Im not sure what I did wrong but It says [4/9/2013 3:07:35 PM] Warning: USER: 2 too many operands for the requirement 'AndCountUnitControlTower2CompleteOnlyAtUnit3264271386TechTreeCheatCountUnitArmoryCompleteOnlyTechTreeCheat'. [4/9/2013 3:07:35 PM] Warning: USER: 2 too many operands for the requirement 'CountUnitControlTower2CompleteOnlyAtUnit3264271386TechTreeCheat'. when I try to run it on editor. im using the heart of the swarm if that helps..
@Miles: The launcher and setup are in the Maps folder. The mission maps are in the same folder, but in a sub-folder labeled "2. Overmind". They were originally not in a sub-folder, but it didn't work so I moved them to one.
@Meyerm: Go
Make sure you have the mod in the right folder.
ALSO, be sure that you re-create the starting save file every time there's an update for the maps OR the mod, using the Campaign Launcher Installation instructions shown above.
ALSO, be sure to switch to WoL for the map, as the mod definitely works for that.
I need help. I've tried doing this for episode 2, and I've gotten as far as the load screen. However, this happens:
The mission's load screen will briefly flash, then it will tell me that the map's launcher uses dependencies nolonger available, or something along those lines. It just leaves the generic SC2 cursor on a black screen. What did I do wrong? Do I need to install Ep. 1 first?
@NguyenTranLoc: Go
Dude, here's what you should do:
- Make sure the SCBWmod.MOD file is placed in fe. C:\Games\Starcraft II\Mods directory.
- Make sure the maps (in case of ep.1, the terran campaign) fe. C:\Games\Starcraft II\Maps\1. Rebel Yell (etc. for the other campaigns)
- Open the SCBW Campaign Launcher (should be placed in fe. C:\Games\Starcraft II\Maps using the editor.
- Test the document and save and exit the game.
- Go to fe. My Documents\Starcraft II\Saves\Multiplayer. Your newly saved game should be here.
- Now there should be a directory named fe. My Documents\Starcraft II\Accounts\*your battlenet acount numer*\*the other half of your account*\Saves\Campaign. Here's where you put your savegame.
- Run the game. (SC2, not the editor!) You'll find your savegame in the Campaign/Load menu.
Try it like this, you'll have the added advantage of being able to use your own hotkey configuration as well as a bugfree user interface.
It worked fine on my system just before I installed HotS, and still does.
If you're using the latest versions of everything you shouldn't have any bugs affecting your game. The unable to load map error occurs only when the game is looking for an invalid path, so file locations are crucial! Another case when that error occurs is when you test another document using the editor and you try to load that savegame I referred to. So whenever you test a document using the editor, you'll have to repeat this whole sequence!
Hope this helps you out.

p.s. How do you like my decals?
