feel free to upload/publish this map on any website or bnet but please keep it unchanged.
The only thing I'm having trouble with are the bosses. I can't seem to afford to use the Basic towers because they don't bother prioritizing the boss monsters when they're around and they don't do splash so they really don't seem worth it. I don't make it past the Ultralisk wave so far. Any tips on killing them?
I usually just use a single upgraded AA tower. That seems to work just fine.
Difficulty at 80 seems good. Although splash tower is still useless because of its slow attack. Had 80 kills compared to the 1000+ on fire and laser. Laser 7 is good but the size of the units greatly affects its usefulness. Bigger enemies are easier to hit multiple with laser 7. That and it also prioritizes air now.
He might be wanting to come into the SCII Mapmaking industry. ;)
Or see what the editor can do.
Anyways, great map, I keep coming back for updates. :)
Gonna try it now... more feedback later...
Oh, and to BigBoogerBot... I agree with you, but I also found that if you time the nukes correctly and has the right combination of towers and upgrades, it becomes a LOT easier. Tower spacing is important. Get a lazer tower early on, but a fire or 2 first. Don't upgrade ground needlessly in the early game if your forces can handle them without going over the supply. Instead, get at LEAST a level 2 missile turret before interceptors. Anti-Air is EXTREMELY important and it would be good to have multiple AA towers at the first air wave (I had 3, and then upgraded 2 heavily). Air units are the best source of quick income, so keep that in mind. Also remember in multiplayer that you gain additional gas if your kill count is lower.
Oh, and a simple, but sometimes crucial bug: some towers (the ones I noticed are the Missile Turret and the Lazer Tower) tend to fire another shot at an enemy even though it's killed by the previous shot, and so wastes a shot. Not a BIG bug, but could be important at times. Might be hard to fix though. :o
...
The map is pretty much nicely balanced now. I managed to beat 80% with a lot of minerals and 2 nukes left over. Seems like it's pretty close to perfection.

Just a quick question... do you make this map using starcraft 2 beta editor?
Your game is hard. If all you do is nerf stuff and make the easiest setting seem like it's impossible (which it currently is without fire towers) then not many people will want to keep playing. Especially if the hardest setting is actually impossible to beat.
There is very little money. It's hard to keep up with upgrades. Especially on the more expensive towers. Adding in another tower just spreads out the money even more, leaving you cash strapped when you need an upgrade.
I think it will kill your game to keep it so hard even on the easiest setting.
Ok after double checking my stats and testing some theories I have some different feedback.
The backswing and damage point seem to have no effect whatsoever.
The basic tower is fine. It goes from 0.067 dpspm (damager per second per mineral) to 0.118.
Fire tower goes from 0.05 to 0.9.
Splash goes from 0.014 to 0.0249
Laser goes from 0.09 to 0.123 however towers 5 and 6 are 0.069. A dramatic drop.
AA towers go from 0.167 to 0.635 per hit.
The big thing is fire towers often hit 2-3 units and can hit more. I'd say they are closer to 1.5 times more effective. So closer to 0.145 at max rank.
I think to even out the towers the basic should be dropped to 250 cost. 250, 500, 1000 etc. That would bring the basic up to 0.08 to 0.141
Laser should be dropped to 800 cost. Towers 5 and 6 should stay at 0.3 speed. The double hit from lance on tower 7 is fine. Damage for towers 3-6 can be upped to 110. 225, 480, 1000 respectively. This makes the laser go from 0.1 to 0.139. The laser 7 does have the potential to hit double units from the lasers, but the fire has the potential to hit many more. With the cost differential I think that's more than worth it.
If you don't reduce the cost, the 5 and 6 speed change and 3-6 damage boost should be done so the tower at least improves for each upgrade up till laser 7.
Splash should be dropped to 1200 cost and speed of 2.2. This makes it go from 0.019 to 0.032. Every time it hits 3 units it has around the same effect as the other towers. This is likely the most realistic change.
I think those changes will bring the tower more in line with the fire towers. It will make 80% easier, but that is also the easiest setting.
Please disregard last post. Must do more testing.
I used 1 basic tower, 6 fire tower, 2 laser tower? forgot the name lol, and 8 ice tower to slow down bots. :) fire tower is the best tower so far...
Fire towers are too good.
I won using 6 fire towers, 2 ice towers, 2 basic towers just for extra firepower against the bosses, which I probably didn't need, and 2 aa towers.
Compared to every other combination I tried this one is a lot more effective.
Fire towers are cheap, second cheapest, and even at the last levels they can 3 shot units. With the ability to hit more than one unit they trump every other tower.
The splash towers would be good if they weren't so expensive. And to really get great effect out of them you have to be hovering so close to losing that it's not worth the risk. Fire towers are much cheaper, kill fairly quickly and have the potential to hit multiple mobs.
I think almost all the towers except the AA towers need to be buffed to be brought in line with fire towers. I see little to no point in building anything other than fire, ice and aa. Nukes can handle the bosses if necessary or during the last couple levels.
Ok which towers are you supposed to use? I've tried almost everything and nothing works for me. The basic towers seem stronger than every other tower and I've tried using nothing but them.
Tried many towers, tried few towers. Nothing seems to work for me. Seems real hard even on easy. Maybe I'm just not using the right towers, but then whats the point of so many towers if some are purposely weaker than others?
i love your map, so fun and addictive.
I wonder if you can lower the price for upgrading? Bosses are too hard to kill...
keep up the good work!! :)
edit: I beat the game 1st time :) (Sweet)
100% done :), one suggestions though you should rework the splash tower, i find it to be rather expensive for the dmg done, maybe augmenting the splash or ROF, i'am not building any splash tower in my build because i find them to be rather useless ATM :)
