I cleared it on the first try; it didn't seem very hard. In fact, I had no idea what to spend my money on, as I seemed to clear every wave with just 2 super bunkers filled with T1 units, and 2 photon cannons. I actually built a bunch of stalkers at the start, not realizing they only attack Air, so my first 5 t2 units were useless the first half of the game.
Every T2 unit seems underwhelming, simply because of their range. Due to enemy AI, units would attack 1 bunker, and because of the very small range of units like the Stalker or Immortal, only one bunker's worth of units could ever attack a given clump of enemy units.
The reason the Photon Cannon is so strong is because it has range 9, and due to its bounce, if a single unit enters range 9 the shot can bounce all the way across the map. So I just built photon cannons (3 total cleared wave 10-20). I had roughly 10 immortals and Stalkers, but after I cleared wave 20 they all had <20 kills each. The Photon Cannons had 500 each. The DPS of the units are fine, it's simply that 90% of units will never ever be in range. It's not the that the cannon is too strong, it's simply that no units were ever in range to hit anything.
Please increase the storage space of Bunker in t2, so that units can actually be in range to kill things. When you have 4 bunkers, enemies will attack the two on the sides, and only those 2 get to fire at all.
Increase Bunker Storage.
Increase Unit Range.
Increase Bunker Cost.
Increase Unit Cost.
Also, Stalkers can not use their abilities in a bunker, and their plasma shot can not be used either.
The last wave was extremely bugged. The Overlord moved over my Command Center, and was constantly losing HP. When shot at, he flew into an area inaccessible to my Stalkers. There was a constant text spam of random 1-3.
teching to different units seemed a lot more annoying in T2 for me, since i have to tech to at least 2 different units just so i can kill air AND ground....it just sucks that infested terrans are the only unit in t2 that can attack both air and ground (unless you somehow manage to save up enough to upgrade reapers without dying first)
i guess ill just mass reapers this time and try to upgrade them rather than getting anything else, since other units take too much too money to get to
The ratio to tier 1 is generally the same, but things like teching to different units its much cheaper in T2. Many upgrades are as well.
I'm just keep changing variants and publishing over and over until its labeled correctly. Will probably end up on something like .55 by the time it works.
To adress some of the issues you guys are asking about...
Nydus spawns don;t give you cash, but killing the nydus does. Until I put in some of the team mechanics, If someone is taking forever to kill their crap, you may have to deal with extra nydus worms. But if no wave is going, they are fairly easy to take out.
The amount of gold you make in tier 2 compared to the cost of things is very close to tier 1. Many things are even cheaper. Handing air is rather simple until later in the game. But because I couldnt test the map with multiple people , thelag issues you talk about do raise concernes. The game I played i was very laggy even in tier 1, i dont know why. I'll be working on some these issues. Good thing to know that everytime i Publish a version with fixed stuf fit starts at teh bottom and no one knows about it, even after this stupid patch that screwed everything up.
Yeahhh... Im having major issues publishing a version that has the correct variants..
The only the thing I can keep doing is publishing over and over trying to tweak the variants until the update correctly. I was also getting some weird lag issues in the game I played online. I have fixed a coucple bugs in it though, just publish .30 but I dont know if the variants are right, god this is annoying.
I'll adress some of the issues you guys are having in a seconce I get this uploaded correctly, Once I get a stable version working, ill upload to this site.
It is stuck on Other / Other and there is nothing at all I can do to fix it. I guess the final may be .30 If i cant find a way to fix this.
I just played v.25. It was only me and 1 other guy left and he couldn't keep up. His base was slowly killed off. The Dark Templar stopped coming after the wave countdown reached 0:00. But he couldn't kill off the Templar(wave 11 spawns) in his base. So wave 12 never came. But the Nydus kept spawning and never stopped. His base took forever to take down with the forcefielded Super Bunkers and all. He stayed alive for forever but couldn't kill anything. Also his Command Center literally look like 5 minutes to go down. All the while nydus never stopped spawning on me. Also I stopped getting money.. do the Nydus kills not give you cash?
Also, the infinite nydus spawn once T2 gets going is a neat mechanic, but... it causes huge lag issues with it if somebody doesn't keep up and the nydus spawns start covering the map. I don't know if there's anything you want to do about that.
I just played a round of version 0.26 where I walled off my side with bunkers and raised supply depots. I don't know if the game was always doing this (I've tried this build many times on the old version and cleared past level 10 with it), but walling off redirected some of the units spawning on my side to one of my neighbours. Is this the intended behaviour?
@Ilsyde read my comment that you apparently didnt read before you posted that
also, @raingame, im playing the one that says v0.27, seems pretty unbalanced to me. too many units can "only attack ground" or "only attack air". im spending so much money just trying to survive the nonstop ground waves (nonstop nydus worms is gay, btw) that by the time the mutalisks come, i dont have any anti-air because every unit i have is anti-ground. the tier 2 stuff is way too expensive for the small amount of money you make (which is barely more than that of tier 1). are reapers supposed to replace marines in the bunkers? if so, why do they each cost 55 minerals? thats a steep price to pay to replace units that you rendered completely useless in tier 2
wtf is going on with this map? i went to the "create game" screen in-game and there is now an "Overrun!! Alpha Release Two" as well as the regular "Overrun".... also, i downloaded the normal "overrun v0.25", but when i went back to create the game again, there was a 0.26, and when i went back AGAIN, there was a 0.27.... did you really pump out 2 new versions in 10 minutes?
Yeah sure, soon as i get the map its up at EU, or well soon as i get it and im at com :p which will be probly 12.00 tomorrow (GMT +2) if its not finished today ;)
Just finished up the Tier 2 boss mechanics and graphics. Now it's just a matter of fine tuning some of the balance numbers to the best of my ability. Should be out within the next 24 hours!
Yeah I'm aware that hellions are too strong and the others are weak, it's been fixed on my local version, but I'm working on T2 atm so It'll be a day or two before I publish the next release.

Just played T2 for the first time, version .27.
Inital thoughts:

well maybe you do make the same ratio of money vs how expensive things are, but you are also dealing with a lot more units, and those nyduses...

walling has always done that ferro.... but why is everyone playing .26 when there is a .27 out?
scratch that, i just downloaded a .28... hes popping these out faster than kenyan babies

There is only v0.23 on the list. Looked on the bottom as well. I effing hate BNet2...
How come the new version isn't uploaded to this website?

EU version of 0.25 is released in moment of US version, which should come inside few hours.
May take little more time, localization isnt working yet.

Great, thank you for the update! I'd love to give it a go.
King, will you be able to publish the map on EU?

According to him it comes out today if he gets it don by balance etc. if not it comes tomorrow.
Rain, any word on v0.25?
Yeah I'm aware that hellions are too strong and the others are weak, it's been fixed on my local version, but I'm working on T2 atm so It'll be a day or two before I publish the next release.
