Id really like to see this game gain levels, even tho many may give up after the first couple of tries me and a group of friends spent 2 days working out way threw the levels and want more!!!
Real fun game and the fun part is how hard it is!
I LIKE TO BUILD 3 Bunker behind the command center. Round 12 the Archons dont come out when u dont build in middle of the map.. its bugged they always walk back even when i lure withj a reaper ... ty =) thats why i cant reach tier 2 )= was same for last updates
hello, i dont get it, there is changelog for version 0.9 but there is file for version 0.6 only available for download. it is bugged, archons are immortal.
when 0.9 will be available??
Just played this again, i have to say its way too easy now! everything costs less cept upgrades, bunkers automatically heal themselves as if they had medics, and it just becomes a joke no matter what you do.
However there are tons of bugs, archons in tier 2 ignore bunker taunt, theres a wave of archons where they just sit on the creep and pile up untill you bring a unit out there to lure them, and in tier 3 they are "massive" and ghosts cant shoot them.
Lots of buildings with upgrades are messed up, like multiple of the same upgrade showing up or having wrong tooltips, or for example, tier 2 bunker capacity increase from armory doesnt show up untill youve grabbed 2 armor upgrades.
And the missile turret doesnt have a +dmg upgrade, just range speed and durability :(
now if you know all this and have fixed it in your bug fix version, ignore this post! but i assume not because the map has been updated to be much easier so id guess you fixed the bugs at that point
First, let me say that I'm really sorry for disappearing on you guys months ago. When I stopped working on it back in October, I had just finished most of the work on the tier 3 buildings and units and I was about to start on making the levels and bosses. Making the new levels felt like a huge daunting task, because of how I had planned to incorporate enemy heros and advancing creep, as well as balancing out everything that far into the game. That was when I realized the huge flaw in my map, and what eventually burned me out and caused me to stop working on it.
The huge flaw is that the game is too long and doesn't utilize team work correctly, and fixing these issues would require a huge overhaul of most of the work I have already put into it. I could go on forever about how these flaws really hurt the games appeal, but the main problem is that so few people ever make it to the end of tier 2, all this effort I would have to put in for tier 3 would barely be seen by anybody.
Now I know these reasons don't justify me disappearing and abandoning the game and map all together, and I really feel bad about it. I put a ton of time into the map and it sucks to see it disappear off the list almost completely. I was and still am going through a lot of personal issues in my real life. Not bad things, just changes in interest and priority. I went almost completely cold turkey on SC2 and was too ashamed to tell my fans ahead of time, or even months after the fact. But I'm back now, so enough groveling about the past.
So for the future of Overrun: I've been putting together a fixed version of the map that addresses most of the bugs that cropped up during the last few SC2 patches, and I plan to upload it online sometime soon. I don't plan on implementing tier 3 waves at all. The units are there and you'll be able to use them for fun after level 20 for an endless level, but that's it. If I ever decide to actually do tier 3, there will first have to be a huge overhaul in the length and pacing of the game and how teamwork affects your progress.
The real reason I've decided to come back to the community is because I've decided to start working on a new map. The premise and idea for it is one I've had for about a year, it is not a defense map, but instead a goofy fun team PvP map (think a simplified dota mixed with super smash brothers). It's much more managable to make in scale and complexity, but I think the concept would be insanely fun. I won't be able to put in the 6+ hours a day for Overrun, but that is what burned me out so hard in the first place, so maybe that's a good thing. I'll need testers and debuggers for this map in the future, so it should be popping up on the radar soon.
Anyways, sorry for the huge rant, I just felt I had to get that off my chest if I was to come back and start a new map. I know I was really terrible about promising deadlines and not meeting them, and I've learned from that. It was always you guys, the fans, that really pushed me to work on Overrun as much as a did. It was only ever supposed to be a test map of me learning the editor back in beta. You guys have been amazing, and I'm sorry it took so long for me to come back. Feel free to send me a PM if you wanna ask about anything or just chat. :)
I "friended" Raingame and I checked when his last game was and it said it was more than 3 weeks ago. I have no idea what happened to him, but it is pointless to keep bothering him. He will update the game if, and when, he feels like it.
I just wish Rain would check this page occasionally and or post that he's still alive or something. This is by far my favorite custom map, and I look forward to playing it in its entirety.
heh, this map is awesome and ive beaten it with every strat i can think of, and it even looked like he was getting close to releasing t3, had the units down and everything... then 20 days without a peep

Seriously? Somebody decides to create a custom game on his own time, which you get to play for free via SC2, and you have the nerve to bitch and moan about new version release dates? So what if he happens to take a page from Blizzard's book for deadlines, sometimes life becomes priority over gaming, even if it is simply lounging around and relaxing. Exactly what is he gaining by creating/finishing this project other than the satisfaction of making a badass game for us to play? Not a whole hell of a lot. So how about we sit back and give the man some respect for giving us the privilege of playing what he created.
Oh and aITy, do yourself a favor and run SC2, log onto bnet, go to multiplayer tab and click on join or create game. Search for Overrun!! v0.9. It just takes a little time, max of 2 minutes.
yep, I agree. I am posting here a comments for 2 months. RAINGAME said to me,he will upload here actual version. But where it is ? Is it so difficult to upload there actual version without reworked tier 3,as he is saying. I will be happy about your uploading actual version. I really want to play this great game. Please, upload here newer version, which is not bugged at 1st lvl ! It takes just a little time. It´s at max. 2 minutes. please give up this time to make us happy =)
looking for the version of this game that has hero units, does it have a different name? been itching to play it for ages

Welcome back RainGame, I will be here to host on EU when you are ready to release the fix to Overrun. :)
Aw. At least this is making me feel better about updating my own defense map.
