The Integrator is a Protoss starship created through reverse-engineering Xel'Naga technology, and is based off of Xel'Naga Research ship designs found on various ruin worlds, especially Char.
The Integrator's primary armament, the Dematerial Matrix, was originally implemented to salvage broken machinery or other useful materials. As such, objects that are caught in the field produced by the Integrator are in essence, ripped apart by the slow teleportation of their matter into the Integrators hull. A mass-restructure device within the Integrators core, converts the matter into either useable minerals and gas, or energy for the ship's use.
The Integrator's hull resembles that of an Arbiter, however, the Integrator is not solidly held together like the Arbiter, being actually 'tethered' together by energy projections arcing through its outer shell.
Integrators get their name from their ability to produce "Integration Fields" that effect a small radius around a targeted unit. The unit is used as a dimensional anchor as an artificial wormhole begins to open beneath the unit, essentially pulling it, and adjacent units inside.
The Integrator possesses an internal robotic assembly system tasked with the creation of Usurpers. When the Integrator has absorbed enough useable materials, a Usurper is automatically constructed and placed within special "firing" compartments in the outer shell of the Integrator.
The Usurper can then be fired at a target, which may simply be the ground, into which the Usurper automatically imbeds itself.
