Impérial
My goal when making this map was to propose both decent visuals and a fast, ruthless gameplay. Decent knownledge of the game is required in order to play correctly on Impérial, as it clearly promotes risky tactics and the good mastering of a few units over the spam of massive armies (at least until someone reaches its center).
"Is it me or does this map look really flat?"
It's almost a 2 MB map. Maps of that size are actually rare on this game, so I guess it ain't as flat and empty as you fear it...

Honestly, nearly 95% of the maps I have played on follow the same uncreative and tedious ressources placement. On this map, to hold the second vespene geyser is already a challenge, you would know why by actually playing it. Also, nearly 95% of the maps I've played on seem to think it is fair to add as many available expansions as actual players' start locations. While I recognize it may be interesting on certain maps that are meant to last, I'm against over-repeating this very scheme again and again. On Impérial, there are four players, and only two possible expansions. It clearly speeds up the gameplay, as people know they can't count too long on their start ressources (while these last ones aren't either totally helpless - each player has exactly 11300 crystals and a decent vespene gas geyser). I must say that, in spite of the fact that I'm still, like everyone, rather new to this game (played Starcraft 1 for long though), my purpose when making this map was to feature a gameplay meant to fit with skilled players' style. You may or may not think I've succeded in that, it's up to you :)
I bear in mind the idea of a nice video to back up my comments...
