Fringe
When a fringe world is invaded by the Zerg, a squad of six soldiers strives to survive amidst the infestation. Not being able to count on help from the Dominion, they must rely on each other to escape the planet. Their only chance is a medivac located in the nearby Dominion base. The only catch is, hundreds of Zerg are in the way...
Fringe is a cooperative RPG designed to emphasize combat, rather than standing around managing items or assigning points. The players must move through the map to complete objectives, while fighting against a variety of computer controlled Zerg. Heroes can be revived after a short delay, but if all heroes are dead at the same time, all players lose.
Features:
- Up to six players supported.
- Difficulty scales with player count.
- Six different heroes, with up to 5 abilities.
- Automatic level up and attribute system.
- Revive system to get you quickly back in the fight.
- Sparse inventory designed to place focus on action.
- Heroes have personalities and will talk amongst each other.
I should start by saying that 3.0 is now the published version. A changelog can be found here.
In reply to Creepstorm: I know some people find it repetitive, I don't mind that personally, I'm used to Diablo 2 grinding and such. You'll just have to take it for what it is, at least for now.
I could do upgrades, sure, but how do you mean this would avoid people ramboing and ragequitting? Would they just not die faster? I did add more and tougher enemies as you progress, rather than upgrading. Would both be better?
Medkits are Batteries are dropped. The drop chance is rather low with Zerglings and such, but Omegalisks and Brutalisks always drop a Medkit or Battery when they are killed.
The map is fun, untill you encounter the 50-th burrowed 'trap'.Its nice that you specified each class' role cause i found the firebat somewhat useless before.A few things i would suggest is that you start off with zerg having 0 or 1 upgrades then after a 'checkpoint' they get upgraded cause most people try to rambo the map,die and leave. The other thing is dropping meds & batteries.
Yes, this map is published on EU servers. The same version that you can download here.
Very interesting idea for a map, I love these kind of maps, is it published on EU servers too?
