I'm remaking a classic from SC1 for SC2.
Recommended players: 2 [1v1] or 4 [2v2]
Some details:
- Buy attacker armies at the top left corner of the map. Each individual unit purchase creates an army of that unit. These units will automatically attack toward the enemy's life crystal.
- Buy defensive structures and heroes at your Life Crystal. In addition to minerals, these special units require vespene gas.
- Mineral count increases automatically. To fasten the pace of game as time goes by, income and vespene gas increases as you kill more units.
- For more convenient purchasing, hotkeys are initiated at the start for each player. [1-4] are for buying attacker armies while [w] is the life crystal.
- You can still play with/computers by adding AI for a player slot. The AI just makes random units so don't expect it to be any good.

Can you please release a version of Battlecraft 2.4 for more classic gameplay? There are many among the community that prefer the hero-free, vespene dependent style that existed in 2.4
Also, it gave players the ability to play more defensively, versus the current system which requires an aggressive approach, especially with the latest nerf to Infested Terran and Infestors...
oct11 version changes are pretty good:
Infestors and infesteds were nerfed, which was needed pretty badly.
Just had another thought about units for taking out the patriarch. I haven't tried this, but sentries have high armor to deal with the pat's damage as well as the guardian shield which reduces spell damage by 50% (e.g. pat's chain lightning). I'll try them out as soon as I get the chance and let you know how it goes.
@TheFinalWord
Taking out infesteds is a matter of range. They're light, and essentially as fragile as a set of wraiths if you know what you're doing. Sadistics, marader/tank, diamonds will generally suffice...Stall with air if you like. Also, BC's are actually pretty effective against IT combos.
@Transmogrifier: Go
Yeah sometime the prelate is right next to the patriach hitting zerglings :(. Firebats sound perfect for taking out both the patriach and zerglings, I will see how it goes. I wish there was some kind of battlecraft unit tester to try different combinations. I was planning on trying broodlords or vindicators.
I very much hate that situation. I'm not sure I have a perfect solution, but there are a few things I've tried in the past. You need to use high HP units when the pat is out. Nuking works well to take out the accompanying army if sufficiently large. I try to take out the archons with immortals/tanks and then work on the pat himself with firebats or perhaps snipers. Prelate can be good if you have the terrazine and can get him close enough without being distracted by zerglings. It would be fantastic if the prelate blinked to ALL heroes and not just massive units.
Ok here is a situation I have a fair bit of trouble with. You have 2k in the bank 0 gas and 2000k terrazine. Your enemy sends a patriach with a large army, him obviously spending all his money. You arm and you have a patriach coming your way and your enemy is spending his money as he gets it on zergling, is there a way to survive this?
Tordecy, Your Honor, I come to you with a request. This is since the latest change, and implemented hyper. Took away agro. You are the creator, and I know that you make changes as you see fit. Personally, I like the changes that you have made overall. It has improved the game for me. Ratings ever time, use of terrazine, all the other cool jazz, that we are all now used to. Someone mentioned, in a fairly serious game... that hyper should be default, or at very least not 4 votes yes. I agree, but decided to take the matter to the chat room. No one there said that they like the 4-0 vote against hyper. I bring to you a 5-0 vote tonight for making hyper default. The options are numerous on how to implement it, and still having a non-hyper for beginners. Like if there is a E, or D- or worse... IDK. C and above, no votes to get no hyper. Most ppl at that level, that I have talked to at least, prefer hyper. Take this as a suggestion, and not an insult. I still enjoy the game tremendously, even no hyper. 7-0 - ShadowVoid being one
drones, 2 high temps, 2 of the terran air unit that does good dmg vs ground. can't think of the name, but that should be 1175 minerals.
Otherwise drones +infested terran + that terran unit would probably do it 1075.
All combos aren't just about what they send but how close those units are to one another too. So if there was a slight gap you could probably destroy it all for 300+ less
I think infesteds often work well to counter infesteds + anything. Or, you can go for air units and try something like guardians. Depending on how good the timing is, you can try lots of templar to take out the apocs and skysplitters. Alternately, 1600 is a lot of minerals to spend and armageddon might be a good option depending on what else is out on the field at the time.
What do you guys think is the most cost effective way to counter good ultra good hydra and infested terran.
Also, a cool addition to this game would be being able to choose the formation of your units, like in a triangle attack formation, square, circle, etc. It would be fun, not sure if it serves much purpose, but it would be an additional part of strategy
When you lose a 1v2, it should count vs the combined rating of the players. So A+C rating in your case, which is around 3000 so you shouldn't lose rating as an A.
Also another really frustrating thing is the fact that you lose rating when you lose 2v1, I don't care how high rated you are, the benefits you get from being alone DO NOT match up to facing two reasonably smart players, please make it so that your rating doesn't go down when you lose 2v1, It is bad enough losing because your team mate sucks, but having to lose your rating because of someone else is utterly unfair. Thank you :)
Here is an example: I am an A rated player with a partner who is D rated, we are facing an A rated player and a C rated player, my partner has to fight the A rated player and dies, now I have to face a C rated player with an A rated player backing him up, when I lose, it counts as if I lost towards a C rated player...please just make it so that we don't lose rating when we lose 2v1.

The start of the game is probably the most strategically interesting part. Getting that initial score lead is SO important. There's a whole world of trickery here.
High level 1v1s are WEIRD at the start. I start by spawning a tank at 1800 or as soon as they spawn a defensive structure. Then at 2K I suicide the tank and respawn it (for more terrazine). Then I start sacrificing templar by shooting them with the tank. Then I consider sending infestor+ghost, because so many people fall for the vindicator trap (I suicide after the vindicators are dead, giving them no kills).
I figured I'd post this for anyone who has trouble with getting stranded alone in a 1v2. The key to 1v2, (and public 2v2's really) is to hoard gas and terra, and unleash if your partner fails. Draw 2 armas if you have to, but you can generally then afford a prelate to go with your 2nd/3rd gas.

I agree, hyper shouldnt have harsher voting preferences then fog. Hyper doesn't actually change the game as far as I know.
Believe it or not, I just played 11 games in a row, all of which 3 voted hyper, and 1 did not.. which of course means, no hyper. Then, on the 12th game, all people voted for hyper! YES! (I said to myself).. Then, the counter gets to 2 seconds, and "You were dropped!" I love this map, I just actually want to play it, and have a more fair vote for hyper (like aggro).
ya it lags the first battlecraft game of the day takes a bit sometimes but after that first game loads every game after that should load up fast and easy unless u have someone else in the game and its their first load of the day
Is anyone tending to get dropped at the beginning of games sometimes now? Never used to happen, now it happens about 10% of the time. Game also seems to lag a bit at the beginning, where it never did before. I always have to wait for people to load and it shows that drop screen.
