BattleCraft
Push spawned attackers toward the enemy side to destroy their life crystal while protecting your own. Pick the right units over your enemy to push through your enemy's attackers.

I'm remaking a classic from SC1 for SC2.
Recommended players: 2 [1v1] or 4 [2v2]
Some details:
- Buy attacker armies at the top left corner of the map. Each individual unit purchase creates an army of that unit. These units will automatically attack toward the enemy's life crystal.
- Buy defensive structures and heroes at your Life Crystal. In addition to minerals, these special units require vespene gas.
- Mineral count increases automatically. To fasten the pace of game as time goes by, income and vespene gas increases as you kill more units.
- For more convenient purchasing, hotkeys are initiated at the start for each player. [1-4] are for buying attacker armies while [w] is the life crystal.
- You can still play with/computers by adding AI for a player slot. The AI just makes random units so don't expect it to be any good.

oh nvm it just happened to me
reached 1150, then it said incompatible ratings, and reset
I have a feeling it's loading the string incorrectly because it's too long. It happened in testing and then I reduced the string size even further and it didn't happen (until now). I'm gonna have to split up the strings a bit.
Prepare for a stat wipe!
-stats, -ostats and -vstats are all normal.
-rstats act normallly even though the numbers are insanely high
I have screenshots if you need them
what about your other stats?
-stats, -ostats, -vstats?
Do they seem normal? If so I think it just loaded rated stats incorrectly and now it's weird. Do they go up normally now at least?
No joke, it claims ive played about 30,000 rated matches too.
edit : my -rstats are just like huge random numbers. My -stats are mostly 2 digits
yea it has to be aggro mode
3000? what
Does your -rstats look normal? Are all their numbers less than or equal to -stats at least?
Hey thanks for the info. Yeah my rating had reset quite a few times and then it stopped going up at all even though id win, kill the crystal first, even during rated matches. But now, its at 3016 or something. Not sure whats going on at this point
Also, what determines if a game is rated or not, it feels kind of random. Is it if aggro was enabled or not?
I'll prob organize the stats in a more readable dialog form later. Right now it's just for collecting stats. Not really important for most people.
-stats :
-rstats : same as -stats but for rated games only
-ratings: some experimental ELO rating system I made just for fun to compare players. Obviously this game isn't complicated enough for ratings to matter but I'll just put it in there for the hell of it. Your ratings change depending on if you win/lose and on how high of a rating your opponents are.
Read more about the mathematical details of the ELO rating system on wikipedia. If you disconnect early (before your life crystal gets destroyed), it'll count as a loss against your opponent. If you're in a 1v2 situation, you generally won't be penalized for losing (might lose a point or there, nothing big). Likewise if you do manage to win a 1v2, you'll generally get lots of points (31 being the max amount of points you can get from winning over your opponent).
-ostats:
-vstats: # of times players voted for each mode
@Zeplic did you lose a couple times or disconnect before the round ending? Is it only your ratings resetting or is it everything else including stats?
Why does my rating keep restting? It seems like everytime i get 1100 its hits 1000
I cant decipher the -stats thing
@dodec
roaches work nicely
@tordecy
whats this whole stats and ratings thing i just saw?
Awesome game and by far my favorite. Well done.
Suggestions:
1) The penalty for failing to meet the deadline in aggressive mode is too steep. The strength of the units that pop can decide the game. Not fun if your opponent (that you do not know) screws up. A less harsh but still severe approach would be to randomly kick out a unit and deduct the corresponding minerals from your supply.
2) Have armageddon be a defensive tool only that only kills troops near your (or your opponent's) crystal.
3) Give your opponents points if your banelings explode on their crystal as a consequence of the banelings dying.
4) It is difficult for new players to figure out the rock-paper-scissors of the elite (and non-elite) troops. A help screen with this info would decrease the learning curve. In furthernace of this, I still have yet to figure out best counter to a single set of reapers. Wait till close to crystal then spawn ultralisk?
Again, well done. Thanks for a great game!
Oh how I enjoy this map. I can't believe it's not doing better on popularity, this game owns nexus wars and income wars.
Banelings are fine the way they are when used non-defensively. They're very effective against most light units but are horribly ineffective against non-light units. A player that mixes in some non-light units to tank baneling damage would greatly hinder banelings' effectiveness. I might nerf their damage vs light a bit.
Since beta, I thought about simply giving the opponent score if your banelings suicide near your life crystal. I don't want to nerf them too much.
THANK YOU, tordeycombo, for searching a European hoster! Battlecraft is one of the best maps ever, so why should Europe not play it :-)
@tordecybombo: I really hope that you can find someone to upload the map to European servers, I want to play some Battlecraft! :)
If it's not a too complicated thing to do, I'd volunteer myself, but as I'll be gone for two weeks soon, I don't know if that would be wise.
Good luck and good map! :)
Some points to point out here.
1. For a free for all type scenario after destroying your opponents pylon all your units resort to the middle of the map and a popup window shows up with options of which of the other sides to attack. Selecting one will determine the direction. And with all people against each other it's impossible to 2 v 1 anyone since those 2 people will fight each other while the other defends. This is the most logical thing to make of this even though I do think personally that a free for all in this map will be chaotic.
Edit: On another personal note if you make the 2 people in the 2 v 1 allies in this case then I don't know. 2 v 1 in team matches is pretty easy to deal with. I've experienced matches where it was 2 v 1 from the very beginning and I managed to win consistently. It all comes down to good use of units.
2. For banelings you could do 2 things.
1) Nerf like already stated 2) Make a huge risk of using them. If a baneling explodes and doesn't kill any unit then the other player gets a huge income bonus. This would make using them against things like colossi and ultras and anything else really more detrimental than beneficiary.
argh I hate people that play passively the entire game and resort to defensive banelings so much. The main complaint I hear are banelings preventing score to the aggressive players.
@Calavera88 If I can find a trustworthy European uploader, I can prob get my version there.
Hey torde.
Yeah, I get that with the ffa. maybe you could do it so that the units of the player who kills their opponent first just go to the middle and stay there? Just an idea.
Also, as sad as it makes me I think that banelings should be nerfed against light. Pretty much against ANY light unit all you need to do is wait for them to get close to your pylon and then pop out a certain amount of banelings depending on what unit it is and they die. It's to the point where for me, if I'm not playing against a good opponent then all I have to do is use banelings the ENTIRE game and I can still win if I time them right.
cheers torde.
@tordecybombo
I'm playing on EU servers. The version of Battlecraft that was up at release was terribly bugged (items costing as they did in game etc), but didn't crash.
This version (2.5a v2.9 by HydrA) seems to be fine until it crashes.
Is there no way to get a working Battlecraft map to play? :(
The problem with 4 player FFA is what happens to the player that first destroys another's life crystal? Which path does he go? Either way, it's going to 2 players teaming against another guy.
I guess one way to circumvent this is to not allow that player to build anything until it's a 1v1 again. So that player will be a spectator until another life crystal is destroyed.
@Calavera88: are you in a non-NA region? I don't know what edited versions of Battlecraft are uploaded over there so I have no control over them :(
