No Battle.net Improvement at Release
They say they will fix annoying bugs such as afk host for launch. However rework of the custom map listing is not planned for release.
Quote from Xordiah:We have been monitoring the feedback around the map publishing features and the custom game functionality and we are aware of the need for improvement, especially for finding custom games and promoting your maps. The most pressing issues are going to be addressed by launch or in the first patch after release. Things like the abandoned lobby issue for example will be one of the issues that are going to be solved for launch.
We really appreciate all the great feedback we have recieved from you over the past weeks and months, which helped us find issues and think of ways to improve the system. The custom game and map publishing features will keep evolving to include more and better ways of searching, sorting, to include more testing options and a better UI.
Civilization Wars by God_Deathwing
This map concept is really nice. It's a board game in real time. You basically move your forces between points and capture other points by making big troups. This is definitively a clever use of the Galaxy Editor.
Death Baneling by Upcios
The version 1.1 of the Death Baneling has landed. This is a really polished game with custom sounds, textures and interface! Avoid banelings and stay alive for the many different rounds!
I hope this includes a fix for the bug where multiple versions of the same map are separate maps, otherwise it's pointless to patch at all.
Oh well, maybe we at sc2mapster should be thankful. If you don't have the GE right now, there is no way in hell you can create a decent map fast enough after release before the first 20 pages are filled up with beta maps and your new map flounders on page 21.
......
So how should we make our map popular?
They might fix the officially undesired feature where you can spam create games and boost your map ranking.
However, if they ALSO fix the versioning bug, you can temporarily replace your map with a 1-player 8x8 map with no terrain or units, optimised for fast loading, that has one trigger: Game Initialisation - End game for player 1 with Victory. Dust off your spam script and have fun.
You heard it here first. :D
"The Death Baneling" is amazing :-D
It is obviously an exageration :) There are limited improvements but not where people expect it. It's a shortcut for No improvements for what we expected to be improved.
I take exception to the wording of the Bnet improvement announcement. It says "No" improvement... but what you have listed seems like "limited improvement" by release, or "Delayed improvement" if your counting what'll get fixed eventually. :P
My ancestors are offended, as are the generations of Bagginses to come.
0.o. J/k. But I do think the title is an exaggeration.
