Although you haven't posted about it yet, I see your video for my map has been uploaded so I gave it a watch. I'm grateful you went through the effort of getting a 3v3 even though it sounds like it was quite a pain for you.
It seems in general your play-through was ruined by lag. I'm curious if you tried 32-bit as was suggested on map info? You mention reducing units to reduce lag in the video quite often, but to my knowledge this is just a technical issue with the 64-bit version that Blizzard needs to fix and there's nothing I really can do, but if 32 bit is just as laggy for you I'd like to know. Either way, I'm very sorry this was your experience. Nobody really complained about lag until 3.0 introduced the 64-bit issues, and even afterwards I've had surprisingly few complain about it. Very unfortunate it afflicted you :(
I also wanted to know when you played this, as some other players were complaining about an issue with the income system which I had tried to fix sometime Sunday. So I wanted to know if you played this before or after I tried that. (If you played early Sunday or Saturday, it was before I tried to fix it)
Otherwise, it seems most of your troubles were just learning now to play the game, which definitely is the fault of the map, so if you have any ideas how to improve that let me know. For an example, for Ogre Halls there is a mini-map icon with the tool-tip, the build button itself has a tool-tip that explains it, and when you view the structure on the map, it also has a tooltip when you mouse over it. There is also a precedent set for that kind of construction by the way Orc Halls are built in camps. So I'm a bit at a loss of what I need to do there to make it more intuitive by default.
A few other notes, but again, they should have been intuitive so they're things I need to work on:
It didn't seem like you ever used the omniscient abilities, which is a big part of the game - so I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to help with that.
You mentioned there should be something to make your units constantly go into battle - there is, one of those buttons makes all of your production facilities rally toward the enemy, and units will attack anything they meet during their rally
There is a button to make all of your production stop auto-building in case you want to save money for something, too.
Anyways, again, sorry it was so laggy for you. Let me know if 32 bit solves the lag (you can just try it and solo-mode to see, if you don't want to put yourself through another 3v3 :P)
Well, 3v3 could be a trick to get, but will do my best on that front, probably be trying this weekend as well. Will likely be posting Sunday/Monday with what I have so far.
There is a solo mode if you have too, but the dynamics are different as it divides money up per each player on your team, so your income is totally different in solo mode than it is in a 3v3. It isn't really an AI, but it builds enough stuff for you to explore the game.
That being said I've usually been able to fill lobbies with the new arcade.
This happened to me before I tried updating it to 1.2, so no, that doesn't work.
I don't really think it has anything to do with the war3 dependency anymore, because it just happens randomly during editing, not when changing dependencies at all.
"Edit > Paste Position Symmetrical
Use in conjunction with map symmetry and Copy Position. This will move the selected object to the nearest point which is symmetrical to the copied position."
and
"Data > Rotate Objects
Opens a dialog for rotating a group of objects about an arbitrary point."
So they updated the War3 Data mod again. This time, I can open the map fine and I've added the new version of the dependency but.. literally every data change I've made has reverted. All of my imported textures I used for UI are replaced by blue blocks, every unit I've changed looks like its HotS original counterpart.
Basically, my entire map is completely and utterly destroyed. Mind you, I can put down the War3 units and they work fine.. just all of my changes are annihilated.
This happened mid-working on my map, actually. I was making changes, testing, making changes, testing, and randomly one time when I was testing the loading screen was gone and booting into the game all changes were gone. Going back to the editor, everything looks fine. I reopened the map and what had appeared in testing how appeared in the editor, and I checked dependencies and realized the War3 data mod had updated.
So.. any ideas on how to fix this?
Edit:
So I had remembered Renee's to manually change the DocumentInfo file for my map, and I had tried it and it failed to fix the issue.
However, I managed to find a backup that wasn't corrupted. Trying to add the dependency to this uncorrupted version the normal way once again resulted in the endless staircase of loading: http://i.imgur.com/4APZjLH.jpg but I WAS able to edit the DocumentInfo file in order to properly update my mod to 1.2 without destroying everything. (Thanks for the advice, Renee)
No idea why it got blown to hell in the middle of editing/testing int he first place, but I anyways managed to get a version working with 1.2. So I only lost like 3-4 hours of work which is not nearly as bad as I thought. (Autosave overwrote my map with corrupted version, and my most recent non-corrupted version was kinda old)
Edit2:
.. happened again mid-editing in my version working with 1.2, so I guess it isn't related to the 1.2 data mod. Still insanely irritating. Lost work again.
Converting non-corrupted and corrupted versions to components list, this is what I see under Base.SC2Data\GameData: http://i.imgur.com/W1blRnj.jpg
So it seems it literally DELETES selective aspects.
My lord, this took forever. My first 3 tries were successes and it takes soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long when it succeeds. Which it in itself is odd, as before all these issues started it uploaded fast.
1. Yes, I encountered the exact same upload issues mentioned by the other posters in this thread, not much more than 30-60 minutes before my "successful" upload. But ever since the "successful" upload I have not run into the original issue shared by other posters in the thread. (Though to be clear; the inability to download issue has not resolved itself)
2. The successful upload was an update to an already published mod, the same as was failing to upload at all before.
3. The name of the mod is Shamans of Conquest - Beta. I can't get the map URL link because Battle.net is down for maintenance right now.
Edit: Should also be noted that when publishing, it VERY quickly goes up to 93%, where it gets stuck for AGES "Transmitting Archive File" - but then eventually publishes "successfully"
Edit2:
It just failed twice at that point (93%) as people earlier in the thread were having issues with. On the third time, I edited the loading screen help text, and tried publishing again. It "worked" this time.
Edit3:
People still can't join normally. However, one person reported they managed to downloading by hosting their own lobby instead of joining last night, and then several other people got in the lobby. But now today, after my new version, they can no longer do so.
I was able to publish my map to NA successfully several times tonight, but with one problem: Almost nobody seems able to download the map.
The map isn't significantly larger than it was before I updated it, and before people could download it relatively fast. Now everyone seems stuck on downloading. I haven't been able to invite any of my friends to play it, they always get stuck, and I had the lobby open until it was top 5 on the open games list and not ONE soul joined the lobby, which is extremely rare for the open games list.
Yet, SOMEHOW, one person was able to join it eventually and leave a review. He said he was able to eventually download by re-logging and trying again. Nobody else was able to reproduce this.
A solid list for the most part, but by any chance could there be one made to modify an existing unit that's similar in simplicity to the one for creating a new unit?
I got that for the most part, I just wasn't sure how to view the contents of the MPQ in order to get at the DocumentInfo file, I guess I need an MQP editor?
At the moment (I don't remember it doing this before) the editor is creating folders with my map name but ending in .temp which shows all the contents (including the DocumentInfo file) can I just change it in this temporary folder, then?
"Next time such thing happens, Manually change the DocumentInfo file in your mod, and then save your map with the editor again. Work for any kind thing that require a Dependency change."
Thanks for the tip. Not sure how to change the "DocumentInfo File" but I guess I'll just figure that out the next time I have this issue.
So is anyone else having trouble with the War3 Data Mod still? As Traysent said, its back up; but there is a new version, and I can't get my map to switch to the new version. Anyone else having similar problems, or am I doing something wrong?
Specifically, I go to dependencies, right-click on the data mod and click "Modify", select the latest version, hit OK, and it does this indefinitely: http://i.imgur.com/4APZjLH.jpg
Edit:
Well I got it working, but I still don't know how, so I can't help anyone who asks.
For one thing, it will RANDOMLY sometimes still load 1.0 successfully and other times not. I tried opening it on a different PC to see if that would help, and by chance it loaded 1.0 successfully (which only happened to me twice, once on this PC and once on the other one)
Then I also tried saving it as a new file, which I didn't try before, and then I added 1.1 and it worked.
So was it the other PC? Was it 1.0 loading right by luck? Was it by saving it as a new file? I have no idea, but its working now
So we've identified the issue with the War3 data mod and we're looking into ways of fixing it so it's usable again. I don't have an ETA at this time but I'll update you all again when I know more.
Seems to be back, for now
Is it just me or is creep/blight not working for it though?

Although its true symmetry tools are old, they were expanded upon and improved in patch 3.0. As seen in the patch notes: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/19913940/

It seems that after waiting overnight, people can join my game again. However, it always occasionally let some people in so its hard to tell.
The exact SAME person who was having trouble downloading it last night could now download it today.
