I was actually around at the start of wc3c and admined there for at least a year or so, doing map and modelling work, with the name nicoli_s. And as for the similarities btw here and their, i think its mainly due to the face that both sites started early in the betas, when you had to manually do modding, so both sites were started by the most hardcore of modders :) i wouldnt say elitest, just people who have the technical knowledge to do things like that.
well no offense man, but if you ask a bunch of random people to make a bunch of models for you, they will also probably be in different styles. also if you are asking for model requests, you need to give alot more details. Poly count, scale, whether it needs unwrapping, whether it needs textures, etc etc.
yah that def needs to be fixed, though you will be happy to know a bunch of the points you mentioned such as download counts and a ratings system are all currently planned to be in a future update to the site
i see you have managed to do quite a bit of work already, you should hang around #sc2mapster with all the other people working on 3rd party apps, there are at least a few people working on 3rd party editor and/or extending the editor, would be good for us all to get together, share ideas, etc
We feel there should always be competition, and with that being said, we would love for you to upload models/skins/assets here to sc2mapster. We have alot of big ideas for how to take advantage of this, whether from integration with the Curse client, or possibly even importing of assets straight through sc2mapster via MWE
hmm, i havent played through it all the way, but maybe some enemies that could cast spells, like maybe something big that can cast the hallucinate ability, so you have to work to figure out the real one

the loaders out there that do teams modify the get/set alliance stuff so they can hack in ai teams

well if they have this feature in the tooltips, i would hope they would include it elsewhere, as this could really allow for some really nifty effects
