Yeah those videos are very helpful. However they don't really go into why the importer isn't applying the textures itself. I was under the impression that the importer would apply SC2 materials automatically like the 2010 one made by Nintoxicated.
It also doesn't really explain why particles aren't showing up on import.
Yeah that's why I was wondering. He just released that but I'm having issues importing particles. I see his SC2 models have particles and his importer says it does but they never come through for me.
Also the textures are out of place sometimes. The normal maps for instance never show up in the material.
He clearly has some type of armor because in the original SC1 portrait he still has the side rings from his armor. I figured they either just threw them right into dragoons or maybe kept the armor on for ceremony.
Just looked at the LoTV dragoon and he has "armor" too.
I might add a better "water" effect if I can though.
I'm not sure what the difference is but in 2010 when I started modding textures one of the resident modelers told me to use DXT5 and I've been doing it since.
Yeah that is an extremely old model. To be honest with you it probably won't even import correctly into max anymore. I think there are a couple of other Sarah models out there though that use more current tools.
Seeing the CoA "ingame" makes it look so much better. I'm warming up to the arm position lol.
That carrier is coming along so well. I think it would be cool if maybe the engines had the classic blue emissive color instead of team color. Although an argument can be made for all TC as most of the SC2 units are that way such as the zealot and stalker.
Wow my kind is blown. I see it now, that is so weird. It wasn't aligned out straight at all. I guess they had trouble with it from the beginning considering the way it looked in the manual that came with the game.
Anyways yours is accurate to the way it was designed so scratch my post.

Out of curiosity are you using art tools and Taylor's import scripts?
0
Hey man I'm still pretty new to using the tools and Blizzard's art tools and I have some issues I could use help on.
Particles aren't importing from SC2 models.
Normal maps and some others tend to be missing from the material on import.
After importing and directly previewing nothing shows up in the SC2 preview window.

No I understand, I was just pointing it out. I also did a portrait but it is a kitbash too.

Coming along really well man. It fits right in with the rest of the buildings.

You work so fast! Keep up the good work!

I did a revamp of the Soul Hunter. I guess I should post for pics on this site. For now here's a link to my page with recent projects.

Looks like that crashes my photoshop. I'm not sure why but I just tried it a couple times. I'm not really even sure what that does though.

Ok so I've come to the conclusion that I never actually released him 😱
I'll make a dragoon version soon and you see it hopefully by the end of this week.

Derailment over. You may proceed with showing awesome stuff.

Why aren't you guys using the newer Fenix portrait for your project?
