I was thinking to myself, what if other galactic wars were placed in the universe of starcraft, such as, The Empire from star wars invades and takes over a few Zerg planets. Do they stand a chance against the swarm. or, what if the zerg tried to go through the wormhole in Deep space 9 to take over the alpha quadrant? what if the Replicators (sg1) found their way to the protoss home world? or even individual fights like. Luke Sky Walker going up against Kerrigan Queen of Blades...? oO LOL. X-Fighters Vs Mutalisks. that could get interesting, lol. What if Kerrigan tracks a extreme power source and it turns out to be Diablo. oh god. haha. This is all "what if's" because simply it is not real nor proobably would happen. Just a thought. :D
I know how to create units and make a skill tree as well as buildings and such. but this might sound odd or funny. i want to make a "folder" in the units menu for this race and not put it under protoss/terran/zerg folders. is there a way of adding a folder? Thanks for any help. :D
Edit: I have went to the "races" tab and added the new race name already, it can even be seen in the pull down in player properties.
Edit2:(LOL) well i just got that figured out. LMBO... what you do is add a new race under the race tab. then go back to any other tab like units and when you make the unit, select the new race name, when its made it will add a new folder for that new race...
45+ is A LOT to release at the start, or at all. I mean, even Starcraft
itself doesn't have that many, and games that do have that many usually
took a really long time to come up with and perfect their list. I don't
know what your game is, but I would perfect the game itself first, then
work on how many characters are going to be in it.
45 is a decent amount when you divide it up 3 ways. 15 each. I have made other games that have had 200+ units in them. so 45 seems like a short list at that point, lol. Thanks for the feedback! Greatly appreciated.
I was not to sure where to put this in the forums so i will try it here on off-topic.
I am trying to get a fairly large list of 'class' types for an arcade/custom game i would like to make but still in the planning phase of it. I do not want to use the Starcraft units like marine and zealot and zergling, but do want to make units like a ninja and paladin and wizard. I am just having a hard time getting a large enough list going. shooting for 45+ in all. Here is a small list i got going so far. if you could add any to it i would be greatly appreciated.
Barbarian - Witch Doctor - Wizard - Monk - Paladin - Demon Hunter - Amazon - Assassin - Druid - Necromancer - Sorceress (yes those are from the Diablo side of blizzard) - Vampire - Ghost (as in casper) - Borg - Mermaid - Fairy - Angel - Demon - Jedi - Sith..... Can be anything from anywhere.
Thanks.
Edit: I wanna try and not use 'super' heroes being they are simply that, super. making it potentially op and one sided game.
i was wondering if there is a way you can remove the mini map, reason being, i want the players to NOT know where they are, this makes the game more difficult and makes you have to explore/expose the map around you? can it be done? idk. help! :D
is this ability for your own unit or for others? if it is just for 1 unit, copy Stimpack for the marines and simply remove the Health cost and add cooldown if you want. If you want to speed up OTHER units than the caster, then make it like Ghost - EMP and change the effects/behaviors.
I was thinking if the race (protoss, terran, zerg) has anything to do with winning a match? or, is based on how good a player is and has nothing to do with what race they are?
I tend to think the latter of those is probably true. But some people tend to believe in this:
Terran > Zerg > Protoss > Terran
or move them around to whatever they want to QQ about on that day.. lol. Thoughts?
Thank you very much for your help, i have it worked out now, just going to adjust numbers to suit how i want it..
The end results are: Apply Behavior to drain energy while attacking/moving/pathing. Then i had to make an Instant Ability Autocast to self/Effect:apply Buff, Buff/Disable Move&Attack abilities when energy is 0. The reason i had to put it in an ability is because using it in a straight Behavior attached to the unit it would only work when the unit is stationary, meaning the energy would drain to 0 but it would not stop the unit till the attack/patrol/move was done, then it would apply. With the Ability on autocast as soon as the unit hits 0 energy it casts and applies the brakes, removing the attack/move ablity. Keep an eye out in the future on the 'new map' forum for the map i am putting together. Thanks again. :D.
Field Ghost - Cloak
Unit: Vital Regeneration Bonus + (0|0|-1.4765)
going to apply this to my behavior to see if it works, lol.
Edit: i did apply this and it does work ,but the problem is how do i only get it to fire when the unit is moving only. i added a behavior to the unit but it runs constantly not when only moving.. suggestions?

I agree with Ahli634
An example would be
Field Marine - C-14 Gauss Rifle (Basic) Stats: Range 5 Field Marine - C-14 Gauss Rifle Stats: Range Slop 1
That means the unit has to move past range 6 (being its 1) for it not to get hit.
So its 0-5 to 0-6 while firing the weapon.

hope this helps some :D

i am not even sure if i should put this in the 'data' forum or not, lol. but it seems like it might be a good place for it~
I was wondering, is there a way to remove the "Add A.I." button in the lobby room before the game starts?
Never mind. Got it... :D

@DrSuperEvil: Go
Ability: Abilities Disabled + (Attack|Move)
Behavior: Validators (Disable) - (Caster Has Energy)
i have this set and its constantly on... which is confusing because it says "If one of these Validators returns false, the behvior will be disabled"

Thanks guys it works perfectly to drain energy while moving and such... now the only issue is that i need the unit to STOP when it has 0 energy.
