I'm curious to know what you mean by this. Do you mean a planetary map
via which you can travel to different planets? This is certainly
possible, but I should warn you that the game is limited to 8 terrain
textures, so your "planets" would have to make do with a limited terrain
selection.
Yeah, that's why I said probably. I didn't think it would be possible, but having it all be terrain... I could probably still get it to work.
Hello all, I am a Protoss player in the NA Region. I am in the PST time zone and I'm available at basically any time. If this changes I will inform those recruited.
This team will be using Skype, though e-mail and MSN is available.
This project is about creating a Tactics style game for Starcraft. If you have played Final Fantasy: Tactics, Tactics Ogre, or Vandal Hearts (and many others) you have a good idea of what I am aiming for.
What I will be doing is writing the story for Starcraft: Tactics. It will be as lore friendly as possible. All those involved may input their story ideas, class ideas, and so forth. I will also be directing the game flow, only in a way that it fits as a Tactics game and flows with the story. As far as Data editing I will do what I can but my skills here are limited... which is why I am recruiting. I do hope to learn from skilled individuals however. If I feel I can take on more responsibility, I will. If I could have done this game solo I would have.
As for roles I need filled; Cutscene Editor, Inventory System, Character Status (you know, levels and stuff), someone who might have a clue on how to do the grid-based combat that Tactics games are famous for (this is the big one), someone to make an overland map that can be traveled like a traditional tactics game... it will probably use planets though, Unit creator (Monsters, Regulars, and Heroes). As you can see I'll need about 8 people to fill all these roles. If more volunteer themselves I will allow them to take off some of the load from the others.
Currently there is nothing done for the game up to this point considering how complicated it is. At least in my eyes. I do have ideas for the story but I don't have the whole story completed simply because that's a lot of work and this isn't even off the ground yet. A story is cute but does nothing if there is no gameplay.
I will invest literally all my free time helping and learning with anyone on the team. Anytime someone on the team is working on something, I will be there.

What I want to do is allow the Hellbat to benefit from the highest level upgrade researched of Infantry or Mech upgrades. I can't allow both as that allows it to have +6 upgrades and that would be broken.
If I allow it to benefit from Infantry research there is a certain problem. If Mech level 2 weapons is researched... okay, fine, it has level 2. However if later level 1 Infantry is research the Hellbat's attack upgrade goes down to 1. I just want it to benefit from the highest level research at any given time.
I apologize for being new and this is my first post/thread. I DID use the search function before posting this though and didn't find anything related to what I am trying to accomplish. If there is indeed another thread with this issue solved I apologize. I probably didn't use the right keywords. Nonetheless, I couldn't find it and my problem is here.
