Currently I'm working on version 3 of my Tech Demo Map and I'm taking on a complete "WoW" style WASD movement with mouse camera control and all. I'm running into a bug which has put a stop this portion of version 3.
The bug: If you adjust the Angle of Attack of a Camera to say, 10, it adjusts the pitch perfectly fine. However if you change the AoA to a number from a VARIABLE it all of a sudden decides it wants to turn Angle of Attack into Roll. Why it does this I have no idea but it's pretty annoying. As you can see in the screenshot below the values are identical from the initial 3rd person view activation shot and the post-mouse control shot. However in the post-most control shot the camera is rolled about 5 degrees.
<<quote>>In the second version of my Tech Demo I've added a few more abilities and some more RPG-esque functionality ala Heroes/Inventory/Items. There currently isn't a decent Item "Treasure" type model so I've settled for a small version of the Robo Bay. Also with the Ether Spike the lack of Terrain Deformation options stops the ability from looking the best it can.
Version 2 of the SC2 Tech Demo includes:
- Basic Hero and Inventory System
- Leaderboard with a "filling" Progress Bar
- Jumping (Spacebar)
- Custom Hero Ability: "Stratosphere"
- Custom Hero Ability: "Sanctum"
- Custom Hero Ability: "Ether Spike"
And everything from V1 with some improvements:
- Smooth WASD Movement
- Togglable 3rd Person / RTS Camera Perspectives
- Custom Offensive Ability "Burst Strike" with different camera perspectives
- Interactive Dialog Panels controlling cameras and basic weapon damage.
- "Underground" Demo
Some of what's coming in V3:
- Strafing & Camera control for 3rd Person View
- A more roubust Hero and Inventory System
- More Items
- More custom abilities
There really isn't a set "goal" with this map other than to fit as many technical ideas along with some cool spells into one map as I can. Once I feel like I've learned all the stuff on the surface I might dig into my own legitimate map. For now though, you'll be able to learn the basics of smooth WASD movement, 3rd person camera controls, how persistent dialog buttons work and the basics of creating a custom ability. If you have something in particular you'd like to see be in version 2, let me know.

Just finished clearing out all the bugs on my Tech Demo map and after posting it around a bit I had a few requests to toss it up on Youtube so those of you who don't have the BETA (Can't believe people still don't have it!) can view it. Anyway, here it is.

Has anyone else hit the bug while trying to achieve a similar effect?

Not too sure what the point of a personal loading screen is but, nice nonetheless.

@PermaG: Go
S does a 180, not backwards. Strafing and the like will be added later.
Anyway,
Working out a few more kinks on Tech Demo 2, but here's a preview of the abilities:
