2. This would take a long time, but you could make all Air units in the AI's race have a requirement such as a 'Robotics Bay' or building that it cant build. It takes a while and being intimate with the data editor, if you want to do this let me know and ill post a little tut.
Guys its simple. You can have variants, but those settings in the variants can not conflict with the settings in the >Player Properties tab. Ie. If you had player 1 set to Pink in the >Player Properties, but have him as (none) in the variant it will give you the error. Compare settings and make sure they do not conflict = problem solved.
"When adding campaign units to an existing map:
Go to "File | Dependencies...", in the new dialog click "Add Standard..." and check "Liberty (Campaign)". After adding the dependencies, click on the "Liberty (Campaign)" item that was added to the list and use the blue up and down arrows to move it to the top of the list. Hit "OK" and reload your map. "
Should of created the customs after you altered dependencies..
Unit Group - Pick each unit in (Any units in (Entire map) owned by player Any Player matching Excluded: Missile, Dead, Hidden, with at most Any Amount) and do (Actions)
Go to Pick each unit in unit group
Once there where it says last created change it to Units in region matching..
And youll get the top :]

Loading as in the little blue bar? How long have you given it once it 'freezes' and how many triggers/units/data are there?

Go to >Map>Map Loading Screen> And the tab that says 'Help' controls that. Not sure if you can have more than 1 thing though.....

Not sure you can work around it.
Could try making their 'footprint' or collision size smaller if you dont mind them bunched up

Did you make 'Region 1' to entire map? And you have to make regions on the worms...

Yea, otherwise you could make the wall have the ability to attack missles and give it 99999999 damage, a melee attack, and very fast attack speed...?
But the region would probly be simpler.
