Unfortunately I have no idea how to do nifty trigger and programming stuff like that, i stick to a paintbrush. :x
I know i played a map like that in WC3 where you built huts and fires and stuff and just tried to survive longer than the other players, it was pretty awesome. I think you could even learn new 'crafting' skills and recipes. That might be something to look into doing.
A day and night cycle wouldn't be too hard to implement. Are you thinking of dropping the default UI altogether, in favor of something like a skill bar and skill book, and inventory bags etc. I've seen it in Tech demos on you tube etc.
If you have time send me a PM here on the forums with what you're looking for in terms of different map areas. I see you have a lava area, i guess an island area, )kinda like zeldas "a link to the past" hyrule castle)..lol
I can sketch something up while im at work being bored and browsing forums. Yay for being in the army with nothing to do. >.<
If you are talking about player housing, thats a really awesome idea. ^.^ Being able to customize your house with different loot you get from bosses, or 'achievements' and what not. It may be a bit more abitious than being able to build your own small city/village, but it'll make people come back to your map time and time again to show off their 'phat lewtz' haha
This game is pretty amazing i must say. Will you be adding on to it to make multiple rounds, and voting on rounds, also different modes such as time attack, or trying to kill the other players. Theres a ton more playability of this map, its amazing as is.
Also have you seen the gravity physics engine thats in development, it might prevent your roaches from bunching up when taking tight corners etc.
also a cool idea is to have a 'race' mode, where you go from point a to point be vs other players in a really tight area with plenty of places to accidently smash into. When all players reach the end whoever has the most roaches wins that round.
Hey im at work, if you could get some screen shots up on the forums id greatly appreciate it. I'd be interested in terrain-ing, I can come up with some concept terrain for you.
Honestly im not sure if the city building is going to be a great idea, it sounds like it would require multi-player sessions to devote a huge amount of time to get a city going. Most people will leave a map after an hour or so, i would try to keep in mind a playtime of roughly 30 minutes to an hour per session of your map.
Item combination is a great idea! I've been thinking of the same thing for an envorinmental survival map (using flint and wood to create fires to keep warm, combining wood and stone to create a spear for hunting etc etc.) Sadly its only in concept phase since I have absolutely no skill in triggering or programming.
Will you be removing the default SC Ui as well, and adding a different interface.
I'm very much interested in this project as a terrain artist, since my program skills have been on the decline ever since trade school >.<
Hit me up in a PM with some more details and what you're looking for as an idea and i can come up with some rough concept terrain. Keep in mind I am deployed so I cannot devote like 16 hours a day to this. :x
BeLugh will you be online in SC2 in about 4 hours when I get out of work, I REALLY want to play this and i clicked More Games like 30 times and didnt see it on the list. =(
Add me up and if you see me, please I'd love to try this.
Something like this..it's really a broad sort of question. You have to ask yourself what type of silencing effect you want. An AoE silence or a single target debuff silence?
AoE silence would be much easier to create than a single target silence spell i reckon.
