My monitor is dieing, its pretty old. I have to up the gamma, or else I wouldn't be able to see. I could try and down the brightness, but I won't be able to do that until tomorrow. I also figured you could just lower your brightness down and it will be fine.
AAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG MY EEYEEEEEEEEESSSSS!!!
Okay I over reacted. But why is your brightness that high? Anyways I never played civilization and have no idea what the heck it is- so my advice to you would be to make it as noob friendly as possible.
I made some tips to help out and tell you the basic information for how far you are. I also tell the new players in the loading screen to look at the tips.
I would suggest you stick to compiling your own dictionary. Considering they didnt filter the whole list for you.
You should manually add every word and know what they mean before doing so.
Your dictionary with over 30k words is still going to have offensive content. event if you remove these 12 words.
You could possibly just generate random letter combinations therefore elimiating any chance of "words" offending people.
Granted some idiots will be offended by letters as well.
I think this would be a good idea, as it makes it harder. With words, you know what's coming. With letters, you have no idea what the next one will be. Of course the map wouldn't live to its name anymore.
Maybe you could use another dictionnary instead of removing all the "bad words"...
Maybe it doesnt exist, but try using a "specialized" dictionnary like Annimals/plants/microbes/insects/planets/chimical names ...
This way there will be no chance for any inapropriate words.
I like the idea of specialized dictionary, you should try it. Would make things more interesting and you could learn of new words you never knew of before. Starcraft related would be the best.
Blizzard has posted an offical response in your thread by the way Quote from Blizzard:
Hey Rodrigo, thanks for posting. We're actually in the process of investigating the ban already; it looks like you also contacted our support department about it, which was the right move. Someone will be contacting you soon regarding the issue.
I wanted to point out though that the reports we received for the words included in the map’s dictionary were fairly vast, and clearly offensive in most cases. The one quoted in the reason for the ban was the least offensive. In any case, please wait for the customer service contact and they’ll work with you on republishing and any changes we’d require.
On that note, forum posts aren’t the right place to dispute a ban. We want to make sure that anyone looking to do so please use the correct forms of contact so we can address any requests as quickly as possible. The support web form is the correct place: http://us.blizzard.com/support/webform.xml
I knew they had an automatic banning system. This just proves it. Which means it is probably abused or it really was offensive to some one. How can a swear word be offensive to some one who played through the campaign that has them? Why are they playing in the first place? I think anyone playing SC2 should be mature enough to not care. That probably means some people were having a bad day and/or hated you map. Then they reported it. *rolls eyes* Just another thing for people to abuse in the Custom Games section.
What is the most sad ?
Players reporting the map or Blizzard banning it ? -_-
Hope everything will be fine with your map. The only solution I see to delete offensive words is simply choosing words yourself :/
Blizzard could just lock the map to players and send a mail before banning it...
I thought that's what he did. When I played it, there was probably only 50 words that would repeat (not including the long words). I never saw a possible offensive word. Ya, I agree that they should send an email saying to fix your map. Then send it in to by looked at, and it is unlocked for everyone to play again. This would be a much better system.
I'm guessing when they merged. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a system that automatically bans a map and sends an email. The system probably waits for certain amount before doing that. I also wouldn't be surprised if the people who reported your map, hated your map. The people who are offended by swearing shouldn't play the game period. If you are offended by swearing, tell me, why are you playing a game that has swearing all over it? Those people just report the map, and ruin the fun for everyone else. This happened to another really popular map not long ago. If this happens again, I don't think I'll be making maps for SC2 anymore. Blizzard just seems to ban, and doesn't give at least 1 warning. This is just going to get worse. There will be more popular maps that will be banned. More map makers won't want to make maps, knowing that their map will probably just be banned anyways.
Maybe its a Blizzard employee. You never know. Anyways, I'm not surprised, sc2 has already been hacked. It won't be long before most games you play has a hacker.
I believe blizzard deleted some of the threads because there were more. For example, I can't find the one Laertes opened. There were about 6-7 posts together, from different people.
I can still find the original 1st thread after the 1st one was deleted.
the only part of that, that was true was "It's much easier to fix a glitch before the game is released" After that, not true at all as it would not speed it up by any great deal. It still requires the exact same changes, the only trick now is, the sending of the patch.
End point: im still having fun. if they held it back, I wouldn't be.
I had fun when I read about this, and waiting for the chaos to soon begin. Its probably going to start very soon for US. Ether now, or an hour or 2.

Yes, its capture the flag. Brings back memories from sc1, or other games. Anyways here's a video of the Assassin:

I guess I'l take Beg towers 2 and 3 as 3 is like 2 but just slightly different. I guess I'll also do a custom tower and post it. Just for fun.

I just released the map onto b.net on the US. Its under the name Civilization Renewed.

Real time, the taxes come in every 30 seconds or something like that. I don't remember what I put it at as I haven't touched it in a while.

I’m currently working on making a civilization version of the sc1 for sc2.
Here’s a preview of what the Stone Age looks like:
Let me know what you guys think.
I updated the video, the brightness has been dropped down. Its not has bright as what it looks like if you haven’t started it.

I finished a Time Bomb ability for the Mothership.
Sorry I don't know how to do the little box here.

Oh, I've done this sort of thing a couple times. I'll upload a map with mine. I'll try and do a video, but no promises on that.

No, you edit the actor, and change the scale. You'll have some trial and error to go through.

The guardian shield is sized based. Depending on the unit it is on, depends on how big it is.
