Absolutely love the second pic, and might work off that idea myself. If that power line wasnt there, it wouldnt be the same :) first pic seems off, perhaps some collateral doodads south of those structures? Just a few.
Ok heres the update. I have fraps working. Works wonderfully btw, im on 3 monitors so i had a bit of an issue to have it record the 3rd monitor, (it was recording my battlefield game at first, instead of starcraft lol). And the video it takes is awesome. 1920x1200 resolution.
Heres the issue. I downloaded and am using AVS Video Editor, and when it exports the "project" to an avi. The video ends up extremely grainy and much, much lower resolution.
Ill try windows movie maker now, to see if it has a better effect. Ill keep you posted.
I had been suggested by vjeux recently that for the nicer maps out there, well, they all have a video showing off their features/artwork and I should do the same. That being said, I find myself at a loss as to how to go about starting to make a video, or tech demo per say. I wanted to make a tech/detail demo of my Emerald Dream and Soulfire maps.
I guess my main questions are:
-What main programs are recommended for recording? Are there free versions?
-Are there any recommended editing programs for the videos?
-What is involved with uploading? Is it a matter of upload -> point to file - > done?
Those sort of basic questions. Of course if there is someone bored who is talented, please send me a PM. But in either case I feel it would be nice to kind of give a nudge in the right direction.

I have an ice tileset I customized with Xii terrain. But its a little glitchy, let me see if theres a way I can package it for download.

Results is screwed up. Literally.

Using that method mentioned xcorbo, will it turn a melee (vanilla) map into a custom map so to speak?

Let me know if you need any help. Always here.

Is there a way to make your youtube video default to 720? instead of the lower resolution.

So you use fraps. then bring it to virtual dub, and export as xvid.
Can i get similar quality exporting as something in windows movie makers (would make it a lot easier, seeing as the whole project is in there)
And thanks vjeux for expanding my horizon here.
(just noticed the video can now be viewed in 720, last night is could not,..... good thing?)

→ Would probably help to click and have it expanded, but im speaking out of place, not knowing much about it yet. heh.

Since the OP stated this thread is for all of us terrainers, guess I should throw out my more recent maps for feedback/compliments.

Comments would be nice too. But of course the main action needed now is beta to be back up so we can all balance our maps :)

Starting on those now, just got home from work. Thanks so much.
Quick question: Does one format prove to be better quality than others? What format do you use? avi?

if its 600x480 how do they claim "hd" on some videos?
