Loved the video. That's exactly how I feel about many games. Some of them need endless instructions to play and even after reading/seeing/whatever the instructions you can't play the game.
For SC2 map makers: If your map isn't that simple we have TOOLTIPS!!!! Yes, those little text boxes so you can give the player short, useful instructions. If you don't know how to use them, just check SC2 abilities/upgrades/whatever. Many mappers simply ignore tooltips.
Unfortunately, the sad truth is that the majority of people won't bother reading a tooltip. You can give people an amazing tutorial system that walks them through the finer points of your map and people will still say "What does X thing that's clearly explained in the tooltip do?". SC2's playerbase just cannot handle reading or critical thinking.
This happens when you run the game in windowed mode, then make the window smaller. Tell your friend to play with the window either maximized or at the default size for his resolution.
Since my last post I've added quite a few features. I added a new race (Advice People), New Towers (Artosis Pylon, etc) and unlockable Perks. I also just completed a major rehaul of all the tower tooltips and am working on improving the UI as much as possible.
I also added new buffs to the Co-op mode that should make it much more difficult, even towards the later game.
Give it a try and let me know what you think! Your feedback helps me make it better!
Personally, I don't mind doing data stuff most of the time, but If I'm not feeling it, I usually just buckle down and do it anyways. The biggest hurdle is usually getting myself to start. Once I get going, It's easy to keep going.
Bumping this up. I've made a lot of improvements since the initial release, including a new race, new towers and the PvP Battle mode. If you're not a big fan of PvE TDs, give Battle mode a try with your friends, you should find it interesting.
I just wanted to advertise the public release of a project I've been working on for the past few months called Meme TD. It's a Tower Defense map based on internet culture and popular memes, from Trolling to Rage Comics to Advice Animals, it's got it all. (literal quantity may differ from advertisement). If you fancy yourself a child of the interbutts or a TD savant, you should check it out! In my personal (read: completely biased) opinion, it's of a much higher quality than many of the other TD's currently hogging the popularity lists.
I'd greatly appreciate any feedback/commentary you can offer, so let me know what you think! Even if you think it's the worst thing you've ever seen, let me know!
Just search the custom game list for "Meme TD" and invite all your friends!
If you're a forever alone type and need someone to play with, I'll be on all night. Join the Meme TD channel or add Primemover (604) to your friends list.

I just added a Co-Op mode that resembles the Wintermaul of days long past. Grab some friends and give it a try!

I'd imagine it's a Internetization of Dark Sapphire. Something like that.

My bad. I'm trying to get an EU client to upload it there, but probably won't be able to until after the weekend.
