I know that you can save a hero for example stored so you could load it in another game session. Now to my question: is there any way to let's say "Save my RPG-hero" from my "Chapter 1"-map and then use my hero in the "Chapter 2"-map with corresponding items and e t c?
Thanks for the answer crazy! :D Oh well, that sounds good according to my plans. I'm chosing between this uni programme and this advanced vocational. And I think I'm actually going for the advanced vocational. I heard that some say that a masters degree would be seen like better than an advanced vocational. However, this other statment I heard is that "Portfolio > Degree" so by that I would chose this vocational course since its more practical stuff AND I wouldn't be bookworming as much as I would if I went to the unit - by that I would have more time for modding.
Furtheremore, do you think that when I've finished with my current project in SC2 I should go on to a more "hardcoding"-environment? Was it that, that you meant?
So as I'm gusseing we have some game developers over here at the mapster. Students as well as worker I have a question for you. Which of these to gives the best profit in manners of education? I know this depends _alot_ on what school you study but we're talking in general here.
The question in short: Which, in general, is the best when it comes to Gamedevelopment Education, University vs Advance Vocational Education?
I know as well this might differ depending on what program. Please motivate for all three Programming, Design, Graphics (or just one of them, w/e you care to post! :> )
You know the abilities that can be added to a unit? Those are saved in different arrays inbetween index 0-31 (I think) I want to retrieve index 0-11 and assign them to a variable of datatype Ability.
So I have a problem and I have a theory of how I should solve it. But here we go.
The Problem:
Let's say I have a unit with Spell 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 & 8. I want to assign this via get field value catalog to a variable. Set the variables manually, I want it to be done dynamic.
My Theory:
So I'm not sure if this is possible or how you are supposed to do it. But I remembered that a unit has an index for each ability it has. So would you be able to do something like this: (?) __________
For each i_A starting at 1 to 8 (Loop) {
set tempAbility[i_A] =
Value: Catalog Field Get
- Catalog: Abilities
- Entry: myUnit
- Field Path: UnitAbility [i_A]
- Player: myPlayer
}
__________
Thats how i would want it work but I'm not sure, can you do it? :)
I'm in dire need of dynamically declaring variables like this in a loop. Else I have to manually declare about 300 abilities. And thats no fun! ;)
Yes I know. "People = Shit", which to an extent is true. And I doubt that this would work very good but still I'd like to believe that its possible under right circumstances.
I can see what you mean, but can't this be supervised by the community somehow? So that if one of us steals the map she/he is likely to get penalized in some way?
Heya Mapster-dudes and girls if there are any! (?)
I'm probably not the first one to get hold of this idea and maybe its already active I dunno. But what about having mapsters sign up to a list and then we send around the map inbetween everyone in this list where everyone gets one day to work with it. The map should have a theme of some kind, maybe "Survivial" or something I dunno. And then when you have passed through the whole list the last person will publish it.
The question is would this work? I know there might be obstacles like "getting into others undocumented work" or "what if someone steals the map" e t c. But with the right setup of people I think that maybe this could work.
Would anyone of you fellows be interested in a project like this?
You may aswell completly down-rank this idea, feel free to critisise!

Oh right, I understand now! :) So in terms of "getting attractive" I should do projects in other engines rather than Galaxy Editor? :)

Alright, yes I've heard many say before that you can learn programming on yourself good as well.

Yes that's what I think too Zelda, with the right preparations it actually could work. And maybe we could get a decent map in "no-time" right?

I think it could be loads of fun though.
