I'm actually working on a map right now that is similar to Risk and trying using this system, I'll keep you guys posted, it's still in early beta but we're already on the 8th or so page from just testing :P
I have attached the latest file here below, Its still very rough around the edges but I think you can do this without a problem, please have it be triggered by typing a phrase in like "testing" we can add the random timer thing ourselves
Me and my buddy are making an urban combat RTS map, anyway we've been racking our brains on this for a little while now, we need to make an AC130 style effect from call of duty.
basically what needs to happen is:
-pick 1 random player from all active players
-spawn an uncontrolable battle cruiser to go from one end of the map to the other, maybe make it spawn in a random spot on the edge and fly to a random spot on the opposite edge.
-while it is flying the randomly chosen player will be able to control the turret (first person shooter) with a rail gun (sniper shot graphic and siegetank sound if possible) after the battle cruiser flies by kills some enemy players the chosen players camera needs to be set back to default and the BC is removed
if you can set up this system for us we'll give you credit when we publish it on bnet and try to get some recognition, also if you would like to do other triggers for our project let me know, we're going to be doing alot of these kinds of random events.
have an amazing looking map with beutiful terrain and promising game play, 5 minutes into the game make it fade to a black screen and have it say "too bad I only need you to play this map for 5 minutes for it to be the most popular, blame blizzard" and make everyone lose :P
I'm just brain storming a map, the general theme is post apocalyptic earth where survivors have to salvage deserted towns for goods. Anyway, this is the idea so far.
4v4 across a huge desert (mar sara, maybe) with scattered towns/parts of ruined cities
its basically going to two towns fighting over these resources for survival. One player per team will be a mayor type role where he'll build up a small town (sim city style) he will be able to route money to his 3 main generals which will start out with a few units which will go out and gather resources for the mayor. because of the slow start there will be random mutant spawns all over the map and they'll stumble towards the base and the mayors have to repel them. After some time the mayor will be able to set up forward villages at the ruins to gather resources (bonus +20 income or something) the generals make little raids on the opponents towns and villages and junk.
So far I'm just messing around with the ideas in my head, Suggestions and help are more than welcome. I don't really wanna do any of the datamanaging, i can do some triggers but nothing special so if someone wants to work on a map with me on the weekends this could be a neat project :)
I'll post screenies as I get more done on this terrain wise
Im thinking of making a post apocalyptic town vs town kind of game, where it'll be 4v4 and each player will fulfill different roles for their post apocalyptic city so for instance:
player 1: mayor, controls the population builds buildings, manages income, gives money to the general (simcity kind of role)
player 2 & 3: scavengers, they go into the destroyed town(s) and collect supplies for player one to construct buildings with. the scavengers will be poor in combat vs large numbers of enemies but could easily take out wondering soldiers
player 4: general, he would start out by being able to mass small amounts of weak units such as civilians with molotov cocktails or something and would get money from the mayor to construct higher class buildings in order to destroy the competing town
as far as this project goes, I think I will just terrain it up and leave the rest as open source if anyone would want to put in the triggers, the unit editing and whatever else that would go into a map like this.

So it used to be pretty easy to set up a new tech tree in wc3, you got ur worker unit who can build such and such...
now in sc2 I'm having a little bit of trouble because the SCV doesnt have a techtree list where it says he can build a command center and trallalal
I just need to have the SCV build a supply depot, a bunker and a barracks for now...
