Those buttons are the same options as in the "view" drop-down menu I have expanded in the screenshot. As far as I can see, I don't have any option to display advanced data fields.
There is an option to turn fog on and off, but my problem is that with fog turned on, it disappears anyway when I zoom out far enough that I can see the whole map.
I have the problem that when zooming out, fog effects disappear. I don't mind this when editing, but the fog also doesn't appear in exported map images unless I zoom way in. Changing the editor's video settings has no effect on this. What controls this behaviour and how can I fix it?

No, it changes the draw distance which I didn't know about, but it has no effect on the fog.
Also, I thought there was some sort of shadow intensity setting for lighting, but I can't find it. Is there such a thing?
