Thank you for the replies. The maps will all be a good size and I was hoping to put in some variation, not just a micro arena thing. That might leave me with room for only 2-4 maps. I'm looking into designing a map/mod based on the old Bungie games Myth and Myth II. I'm pretty excited to be getting into everything, but first I would like to actually design some maps since I want to include a few game types, but again later times and for now I'm just focusing on the looks.
and Zandose, what do you mean by making a flat texture model? I assume that'd be done outside of SC2 right? Would that work with height elevations and whatnot?
So far, it seems like the camera bounds thing will be my best option for now but i would still like to discuss this some.
Hello, I'm looking for how to make multiple terrain settings ("Maps") on one map. I want to make a panel to vote to select an arena, but I am new and working my way into the terraining section first. How do you do this?
I was wondering if it was possible to make a camera that kept all players in focus for each other? I want a camera that will be the main viewpoint of all players, but make sure they all stay in focus. An example would be if say player one and two started next to each other, and player two runs forwards, the camera would pan out for both of them to be in the screen. If they got closer, the camera would pan back in.
I am looking into making a map where you combat multiple other players and have choices of arenas. However, I do not know how people make it so that you can have multiple arena's in a single level. Is it possible? Much thanks for any help!
Well I think I have finished Showdown. After adding some eye candy and fixing a few messed up areas, I think I'm ready here. Give me feedback on it, this is my first melee map as well :x I've got the download up along with map photos and the original.
Here is another update on Showdown. The terrain is coming along nicely, and I decided to add some Arches to some of the paths just to give it a fun and strategic touch since the bases of the pillars on the archways can not support air or ground passage. I Touched up the Tar to have bones and debris inside of it as well and moved the top rich minerals closer to the top entry point. It's still not done yet, but I'll be posting it here when it is. There isn't to much left to do really besides touching up some eye candy.
I decided I'd try this out. It'd let me have a decent chance at a melee map as well. I decided I'd do Showdown, with a few edits that keep it balanced in my opinion (Adding heightened cliff sides for reapers/colossus/etc to not take a massive advantage over someone too easy), considering it was my favorite map in Starcraft :]
I'm looking into creating a map that seems like it'd be very nice for multiplayer play and one of the large things I'm interested in for it is the ability to have a platform floating above the players location that they can jump up onto. Would this be possible?
I was thinking using something along the lines of the whole staircase idea shown back on the main page a while ago. Would anyone know how this would work though?

Obviously, this is still a work in progress.
