    Greetings!

Well, it's pretty simple, whatever you do, it starts with an action. You usually need to experiment to get to know how things work in editor, once you understand how all pre-made stuff work (good insight on how to do stuff you want with effects/behaviors/validators, average knowledge of actors + triggers), you should be comfortable enough to create your own grand project.

Of course, you might feel more excited to start working on your rpg off the bat, but if you do so you'll probably feel immensely powerless, helpless and confused. If you don't quit at that point, you'll still be horrified year later about what a mess your map is since a year from now your techniques will be much superior to the ones you now possess.

Thus, my advice would be for you right now to create a mini-rpg, preferably single player too (there are way too many things to bother with in multiplayer map, like fair balance, re-playability and god know what other silly things people concern themselves with). What you'll do in it is create a hero and enemies mostly using slightly alerted sc2 abilities (this will show you basics on how abilities are made). You'll want to have tings like starting town, different regions, storyline and a few events (will get you familiar with triggers and general mapping). Start small, take a notice to not prolong gameplay of map to more than 30-40 minutes. Maybe a map about a group of warrior on their quest to defeat demon king and seal the hellrift, you start on a road with comrades, get ambushed, be the sole survivor, find a town to patch you up and do give you small rewards as you progress forward, encounter a few more ambushes/events -> final boss battle vs demon king. Well, maybe 50 or so minutes of content.

Either way, short but sweet is awesome, and when you finish it you can also get feedback and reviews on your work, which will boost your morale.

So, to recap, take an action, start creating a map, when you don't know how to do something try to recall if campaign/regular sc has something similar, if not, google mapster for help or go ask question on irc/forums/b-net forums. This mapping thing takes surprisingly lots of time and effort, but if it's your kind of thing then it's fun, and fun is all that matters, so be prepared.

    P.S. Berserk!

Thanks for all the hints! I'm really grateful for them! I'll start my mini-rpg as soon i can! Even though it will take a while before i come up with something less than horrible! haha

    PS: Berserk is fuckin AWESOME

Hi folks! I hope I'm in the right spot =O

I'm newcomer to forums, and a total newbie on galaxy editor, but i want to remake the Waugriff's Curse of Time RPG (specifically the Fire of Chaos version, done by Darkchaos http://pomfoc.ucoz.com/).

As a newbie, i know that it's too much work for me to start, and that i need learn a LOT of things before trying to make this map.

So i would ask some tips from where to start, what tutorials i should check.

Even if it's a long way, i would like try. In the end, at least i'll know some editor tricks xD

If by a miracle a pair of hands decides to help me ( not necessarily with the map itself, some tips and "exercises" would be appreciate too)

ps: If someone wants to talk to me in game, you can always find me on NOTD Channel
