isnt there like a variable or property that each unit has you can use to store an integer.
I think you might be referring to the unit's Custom Value, which is a real number but can store integers if those integers are converted to real numbers.
A custom value is a number attacked to every unit that is 0 by default. You can set this to whatever you want using the trigger action mentioned above.
If you want to "reference" a unit later, just use a unit variable.
Setvariable(yourunitvar)=(yourunit)
