In this "Triggering" exercise the objective is to create a city/village with a road traffic control and cars on it respecting the signalisation. This is essentially an A.I. challenge!
Challenges
Think of these as achievements.
Use signalisation
Add pedestrians
Create a Pizza shop that can deliver pizza
Purpose?
The idea is to make the mapper think outside the box.
Template Map
Due to high demand of a template map, I decided to create this very crude and basic template map. No doodads have been added. I want people to add their personal touch here and there. Can't wait to see how people tackle this!
God damn it. Why do these have topic that are so addicting. I just finished that last one and was hoping to to get back to my own project. Would be kinda nice if there was a template ready for the city but whatever.
Wow, this is actually a really awesome idea. There's probably not much practical use, but this is a great way to help wrap your head around building a complex AI. I don't have much time anymore but I'll see if I can throw something together tonight ^.^
If anybody's interested, there's a fairly detailed write-up on multithreading and it's use in AI on the wiki here. It's definitely on the complicated side, but it's certainly useful knowledge.
DarID said, "the idea is to make the mapper think outside the box". And I agree with it. We so used to create static terrains with no soul on it, while we have reach possibilities of organizing an animated interactive environment, smart and alive. It can be used for a wide range of games to bestow them an additional layer of complexity. For example, gta-like map, or syndicate-like, or some rpg in a city, or maybe in a world with ecosystem of creeps eating each other. And so on. Som it may have a deep practical use for pretentious perfectionists.
Awesome topic, tbh... :D
I was clueless how to tackle it at first, but I found my way. ^^
Btw, I'm building a complete city... got a highway, working traffic lights, civilians running in their places and over the street. Currently working on the monorail (instead of a shop... who needs a shop? :D ).
In my triggers you can see how to use it. I would like this to be used to spice up terrain maps or in playable maps like GTA, a racing game, etc... Enjoy watching.
Next TME will be posted on Nov. 24th.

Hahaha, I am glad you like my ideas!

Haha this is a really good idea. Nice one! Would it be useful to have a template of the city set up for people?
the very first time I touched the trigger editor was to create a monorail which ran through the monorail network on one of my maps.
I think it might qualify but it was hideously done and I would be rather embarased about it now. ( as most first times are *winkwink* )
Template on its way.

Updates ? I want to put something like this in my map , but i'm very noob in the triggers :(
No one submitted anything for this triggering exercise. Two days left until the next one. Stay tuned.
Hang on, I'm stress testing...
I will upload it afterwards.
edit:
Here it is. Enjoy! Free to use.
In my triggers you can see how to use it. I would like this to be used to spice up terrain maps or in playable maps like GTA, a racing game, etc... Enjoy watching.
Notable Features:
- cars, traffic lights, civilians, trains, train lifts
I made traffic lights... about it.
I would have loved to do this. I'll eventually do the next one, as I just got my editor back up working again. Great initiative.

Wow is all I have to say. Very well coded. Flawless is the word actually. Very nice work!
