This is a brief tutorial for more than 3 upgrades using triggers.
1. Press F7 to access the data edtior.
2. Select the upgrade(s) you wish to be unlimited and change the field that says Max Level: 1 into Max Level: 100 (selecting certain higher values will cause this not to function via triggers, values like 255 or 254 will NOT work, but feel free to test other values).
3. Create a trigger that adds an upgrade level for the upgrade(s) you selected.
Donc voila, c'est la fin!
I spent ages wondering why 255 wasn't working, and I expect others will do the same.
Could you be more specific in step 3? And for step 2 do you mean in the upgrades section under the building the upgrade is researched from, because i tried that and it didnt work. As for the trigger i have been trying to get something to work but the upgrade button gets removed once i get the 3rd upgrade. Also for this map gas is not used, only crystal so i have removed all gas manually from the stuff, will it automatically increase the crystal cost of the upgrade without adding a gas cost. maby a screenshot of the trigger you used or copy it as text, and adding that to custom string should work.
Maby i can be more specific, i have kept trying and so far have had no luck, other than my manually making 100 more levels of each upgrade and i wont even try that.
What i would like is for them to be able to keep clicking on upgrade armor or weps, and after lvl 3 the button will remain and read level 4( what it says is unimportant) and increase in cost, likely by 75 crystals each nime, not geometric.
One method i tried gave him 100 levels of the upgrade at once due to a failed trigger attempt. Does anybody know of a semi easy way to cause it to allow you to keep buying more upgrades? im only using the default editor so maby i need to use a better one, such as w/e galexy editor is. I couldnt find a way to create my own abilities, or a trigger to add an ability to a building (technically it could be a unit so long as it cannot move or die) or a method of increasing the cost each time, such as X=current cost, after upgrade +1 armor level, X+75 ->X. atleast thats how i would do it on my TI-83+.

Wow; that explains so much, I actually manually performed upgrades through "Catalog Field Value Set" because the upgrades refused to function
