This has probably been asked and answered before, so forgive me, but how would I go about importing a custom terrain and then include it in my map's terrain set?
Short answer is use the Data Editor. All tiles and tilesets are declared in special catalogs in the Data Editor.
The Terrain Textures catalog is responsible for declaring all ground texture types including metadata associated with them. The Terrain Types catalog is responsible for selecting which Terrain Textures are used in the pallet of a single texture set, up to a maximum of 8. Both catalogs are found in the "Edit Terrain Data" submenu of the Data Editor.
In the Terrain Editor you can use the "Map->Map Texture Sets..." window to add or remove texture sets. It is important to note that you are limited to 1 texture set per 8*8 map tile.
Hey ImperialGood, thanks for the reply. I actually figured out how to do this last night, but I actually would like to try to import a custom terrain tile and am having difficulty. So I have the picture that I want to use saved on my computer with a .dds extension. I go to modules -> import -> data -> import files, I select the file and import it. It says that it was important successfully, but when I click on the new tile it says that the image can't be displayed, and there is a red and blue square in place of my image. Any idea where I am going wrong?
Sounds like you are not exporting it as a dds file. Simply changing the file extension does not change the file format. You need a tool that can export as .dds.
You can get plugins for it for gimp, tools from NVidia and Microsoft.

Actually, how would I just add an already made tile to my tile set? Does anyone know of any tiles that are simply just black?
