I'm very new at this, so please bear with me if this question is extremely obvious.
By canyon, I mean a trail of terrain at a lower level than it's surroundings. My goal is to have 3 "canyons" running parallel with eachother, the ouside canyons having a width of 4-6 (which is straightforward) and the inside/middle canyon having a width of 5. Currently I can only see ways to make the width a multiple of 2. Please tell me there's a way to accomplish this!
(Please don't ask why it needs to be 5. Long story short: 5 is the magic number.)
Sorry, I just realized that my description of what I meant by canyon was a bit vague. The canyon must be surrounded by cliffs! I can see that the height tool isn't limited the same way the cliff tool is, in that you can raise and lower terrain without following a grid pattern like the cliff tool is bound to.
I guess my question boils down to whether or not you can disable the "snap-to-grid" behavior of the cliff tool, or whether you can tone the grid size down from 2 to 1.
I'm not entirely sure if I got your post right, but posts about this subject are always confusing even though the answer always seems simple; no, there isn't away to tone down the grid size of cliffs, afaik.
BUT you can use the cliff tool, and lower the bottom with the lower terrain tool, I would suggest starting your entire map at +1 Height though, becuase -1 wont function the correctly from time to time.
Also when you use the lower terrain tool, you can Put rocks on the inside to make a new canyon wall, but you will still have the overhang at the top.

Short answer, no. You're stuck with cliffs of even sizes.

You can just make some of the canyon area unpathable (not able to be walked on) if you are really adamant about the width (hotkey H).
