After last week's try-out of the 'Cybros' tileset, this week we'll be continuing our exploration of LotV with the theme "Shadow Corps Platform". This means that for this week, I want you folks to experiment with that tileset; any kind of terrain you can make using it goes. This means you'll get to try out the new space-terrain related doodads to see what they feel like. I've got one more try-out coming up next week before we're through most of the variation LotV has to offer and we'll be going back to regular exercises. For now: put on those helmet, astronauts!
You can find an album with all tilesets here, courtesy of greythepirate who put it up in the general forums.
Wait a minute, that's that Protoss mission where you control/rescue Tassadar from the... Brood War(?) Protoss campaign! Boy, that's been a long time...
Hey war! I see you used that trick with the energy shield in the window, really nice! :P
The problem with it is that one window is darker than the other, so i usually put two energy shields in the darker one so that it looks almost the same.
besides all that, its a nice terrain! keep going! :p
Awesome job on the terrain. My only real suggestions would be to see if you can work in a bit of variety into the patterns on the walls and the ceiling, and to play around with the lighting. As it is right now, the lighting doesn't really feel like an indoor facility. I'd recommend playing around with making the lighting darker, and lighting it manually. Other than that, great job!
The image with a space door looks like a movie scene...the use of campaign models is really well done. and the terrain.... so good. The sense of scale is just perfect...
Just asking randomly, at what percentage do you use the all doodads images? :P
lol no need to make a new map you can use my map is there. Also cant remember the name of the planet. The fracking planet will not stay still and i did had a lots of trouble trying to place it in the right spot, I almost give up on the idea.
Weekly Terraining Exercise #226
Hello again folks!
After last week's try-out of the 'Cybros' tileset, this week we'll be continuing our exploration of LotV with the theme "Shadow Corps Platform". This means that for this week, I want you folks to experiment with that tileset; any kind of terrain you can make using it goes. As always, good luck & have fun!

Managed to work something out today, before heading to work. Not much done, but should recall a bit of nostalgia for the old timers.
BTW, which terrain is next? It's Xel'Naga related or not?
Wait a minute, that's that Protoss mission where you control/rescue Tassadar from the... Brood War(?) Protoss campaign! Boy, that's been a long time...
Very much so.
But no, it's not that one.
That's all I'll say, want to keep it at least a bit of a surprise :)

Close, it's the very Vanilla SC1, 'The Hunt for Tassadar'. And the background does look like Char from afar, which makes it more interesting.
Very nice, Love the detail.
I have not done a WTE in a while now so here is my for this week!

What background planet is that?
I'm seriously going to rip this of-... uh, get inspired by it for my upcoming campaign.
Oh, come now, don't be ashamed, it's just the golden rule of art - Good artists rip-off, great artists steal. Sort of. xD
