Since 2012's last day happens to be a monday, most of you will be viewing this post in 2013. Following up on the lazy mood we've been having with christmas, this week's theme, if you feel like getting around to it, will be equally lazy and uninspired. WTE #110 is a "New Years Edition" of the WTE, meaning I'd like for people to terrain me anything that ties in to how your 2012 year was. Did a lot of Mara Sara terrains last year? Gimme another one! Left 2012 with a bang? Throw me a party terrain. Anything you feel like doing!
I went to cologne for about 10 hours mid year, might do cologne cathedral in the time that sc1 and/or 2 is set (because obviously earth still exists, as shown by the UED showing up in sc1)
Usually for the WTE people post screenshots of their maps. Videos are fine too, though. Just the map works as well, but keep in mind this is not a contest or such; simply less people will take the time to view your map if they need to open it in the editor themselves.
Ive been working on this map for over 2 years now. The thing is it started as an idea for a campaign which would actually be a tribute to a character from SC1 >SC:BW clan era.
In this map I learned everything I know now about sc2 editor, since it became kind of a template...
When I got stuck at specific points and couldnt move further, like abilities, or creating a script for an event via triggers etc, I usually took a break at which I just concentrated on the visuals of this mission, which I found rather easy and satisfying. The mission takin part at the jungle... So basically I spent my 2012 in this improvised amazon, puting vines on old temples and rocks, planting weird looking shallow water plants and brushes.
In game there are variuos models of insects, like dragonflies or animals, like bengalas, which I turned into units that fly/walk around in the maps jungle/pond areas to increase its visual value.
@ SGTMeowmers
Those arent actually lilies... Those are some wierd kind of lookin plants, that have a long stem/shaft which actually grows above the water, like reeds. I cant recall from where I took it, all I remember its some kind of "avatar" type model.
That could be detailed and finalized better, but it's one of the more realistic waterfalls I've seen. Could you upload us the map perhaps? I do want to see this in-game.
I'm assuming you used the Zerus water sparkles doodad for the top of the waterfall; you should use a few at the falls base to make it all a bit more seamless.

Weekly Terraining Exercise #110
Hello again folks!
Since 2012's last day happens to be a monday, most of you will be viewing this post in 2013. Following up on the lazy mood we've been having with christmas, this week's theme, if you feel like getting around to it, will be equally lazy and uninspired. Good luck, have fun and happy new year! :)

I suppose I could print my memories in a SC2 map? Sounds intriguing, I'll see what comes in mind!
Shall we upload the maps here or a video will be sufficient?

Screenshots, map upload, video... whatever you feel like doing.

Here I go.
That's quite purdy Argutaris, haven't seen such a nice pond/oasis since the Warcraft 3 days. How does it tie into the subject for you?
WOW!
Wow.
Wow.
That is... just, wow. What are those lilypad doodads?
