Heroes of Xel'Naga (HoX'N) is an third-person role playing map I've started developing.
The Map is much like a third person shooter type of game. It starts with a UI for your to pick a hero after you hit select, you get your hero on the map. Control it with WASD and click to shoot (though it will only attack if there is something for it to attack nearby). Lock on to targets by holding the right mouse button, point the screen at an enemy and white halo will appear around it. The map is only in its first stages of development, but that's the basic idea.
Take a look at the latest map I've updated on my Team Pages, if you like it and know how to contribute, please reply and let me know. Tell me what's you're good at and you have a place on the team. All I ask for is regular contributions.
Currently, I'm looking for:
Icon Artists
Data Editors
Trigger Programmers
Hero Designers
Terrain Designers
These roles are only there for better organization. In truth, anyone can join as long as they have something to contribute. I will regularly update the Team Page Issues Needing Resolution. If anyone has any ideas how to help the problem, just post a reply with the solution, or your idea of a solution. We'll see if it works. Those on the team can access the internal discussion page which will be where we define our next goals and discuss any improvements on the map etc.
I hope the map making process will be as enjoyable as the final map!
Define third person. There are many kinds out there. Will it be WASD? Diablo style, or just SC2 style with a third person view? Also, I would (kinda being a hypocrite here) recommend posting a video of at least what you have so far. I would say this, because it sounds like you would want some fairly skilled data editors... And they wouldn't really be interested without more info. (Well, at least I wouldn't think so. I'm not that good with the data editor so idk). Anyways, that is my advice.
So far it looks cool though. Perhaps just a single screenshot of the terrain you have so far? Once again, just shooting out ideas. People tend to disagree with me a lot, so don't feel like what I am saying is at all accurate lol.
Thanks for your interest. You've got some really good advice. I've uploaded an attachement of my map in my first post so others will see it too. Feel free to take a look! Hope you like it.
Looking forward to seeing you on my team. :)
