Save the skin file ( very important, holds the triangles of the model)
Save the textures as png ( use the menu option, export textures, export all to PNG )
Leave the WMV open !!
Open MAX 2011 ( make sure you have the Art tools installed prior to runnning Max! )
Run the m2 import script (nothing happens, thats normal :) )
Select the Utilities tab, and press the MAXScript button, select the WoW M2 import utility
Press the Import button
In the pop up window select the m2 and the skin file.
Press open
In the Animation tab, a list of animation is show with animation names that make no sense :)
Deselect all the animation
Now check in the WMV which animation you want and select them (according to their number) in the Animation list in Max
Press the import button.
This gives you a tiny model that, when a sc2Default map is applied can be imported in Starcraft
Now I strongly recommend that you first read the Art Tools documentation to go from here.
Because there is no normal texture in warcraft, you can use the nVidia plugin to make one for you based on the diffuse map.
Note that the normal map is only working fine with a specular map!
I was planning on doing a video tutorial on this but here is the short version:
Required Games
Required Tools
Optional Tools

I think it depends on the version of the modelviewer and the model itself, since newer models tend to crash.
Which model are you trying to export?
