A typing game inspired by Typing of the Dead. You defend against waves of Zergs by typing the words above their head before they reach the blue line.
How to Play
The game is available at the US server already. You can find it by searching "Typing of the Zerg".
Performance
The game runs at constant 25 fps in Ultra/Ultra with my moderate gaming pc.
Word list
Right now, the game uses the 50 US states and the name of the US presidents as its word list. I am open to new ideas.
Coming Soon
This is an updated version of the map that was submitted to Blizzard contest. More stages and features are coming soon. Any feedbacks will be appreciated.
The game itself looks awesome. I like the flying shark :P
The gameplay is actually really well done, i like the boss-fight-like encounters. Too bad it is not available on SEA. : / would of liked to play it.
At 200 latency, I have not noticed any delay issue myself. However, I am biased since I have played the map almost a hundred times by now. The most troublesome issue that I ran into is actually the texture memory. Before, the game had to be ran at Medium/Medium, or else my graphics card with 512MB memory simply can't handle the load. I had to scale back a lot and do some optimization before it can run smoothly at Ultra/Ultra.
The map is a great idea but it could use some work. Namely, the lag is horrible. Not as in the units lag, but the lag when typing. In a game where speed is what matters, it's extremely annoying not knowing whether the letters I've typed were correct or not until 2 or 3 seconds after I've typed them.
As a start though, this map is awesome. I like the view angle and then background is epic. The towering cliffs shrouded in mystery by the fog. The game itself is too short though, and the repetition of the words is disappointing. I know it would be a lot of work, but would it be possible to add a larger range of words. As it is the map doesn't have ANY replay value (at least I don't plan on replaying it, though I'm glad I played it the first time since it was still a fun experience.
What would give the game alot of replay value would be have random sentences with interchanging adjectives and objects... Might be hard to pull off, but will result in alot of lul phrases :D
Or just go to http://en.wiktionary.org and go crazy.
Thank you very much for the feedbacks. They are really helpful and I appreciate them greatly.
Replayablity is my current #1 priority, I really like the randomly generated phrase idea. I will work something out asap.
Regarding EU release, it will have to wait until this Friday or till we get some clarification from Blizzard. Personally, I would love to opensource this as there are many better mapmakers in the community. But I am not certain if that is allowed by the rules. I will keep looking into it.
Sorry about the lag, the performance took a hit while I kept adding stuffs into the game. I will try my best to keep the optimization tight and keep a balance of features vs performance.

Make a project page on mapster for it :)

...that is just neat, really good execution there :)
You should just google random words and then use whatever pops up. Maybe use some starcraft words. Like Reaper, xel naga.
Wow great map! I want to play)
Uhm, how about an EU Release???

the lost viking music could be a bad choice for those of us who have done the lost viking 500k points achievement :P
hope it gets released in eu too (or the .sc2map gets uploaded). ill play it, and even if it is just to increase my typing speed/skill XD
Fast, Awesome, and to the letter.

This actually looks like alot of fun. Any chance of an EU release?

I beat it, I missed the first one 'cause I didn't understand if I was supposed to hit Enter or not.
Otherwise I got it all perfectly, and really quickly.

Besides its being the first pure typing map I've seen, it really is of a very high quality. I give it two "Hella"'s and a "cool".
