Today I am very excited to announce the public beta launch of my custom map, Undead. Sadly the release is only in NA as I am unsure how to fix certain text tags when it appears on the European Server. (I also have don’t own my own EU account.
Undead can be found if you search for “Undead Reworked” on the NA server!
Team 2 is Undead….
Undead is a team-based survival map for up to 8 players. There are two factions, the survivors and of course, the Undead. The Undead is given a small maze, which allows time for the survivors to run and hide, and build up base. The Undead then has to hunt down the Survivors, and bloody battles are sure to ensue. Whilst early beta and Alpha testing, the game has been likened to Cat N Mouse, Island Defence and Probes vs Zealots, however Undead is a lot more spawn-based.
Undead, like many other projects on the Sc2Mapster community is team project with two members participating in the long and arduous construction of this map. Blooha and I have created, recreated and restarted this map more times than I would like to mention. This map has been in development for around two years with the aim of reliving a great game created on StarCraft BroodWar.
Below are some key, fun features that players have noted as being worthy of being highlighted, but if you do not wish to read that, please take the time to check out the trailer for the map, (I am sure you’ll get a laugh) and also my website: http://undeadsc2.weebly.com
Unique BroodWar style feel.
As so subtly shown in the trailer, Undead has a unique BroodWar style of mapping, without those complex and confusing dialog systems. The game’s sense of vintage-ness is a key feature, and just makes the game, that much more different.
Key Features:
Some of the core features of the game that should be well noted are as follows.
• Unique spawning – Spawning units is done in a separate area at the top of the map where a ‘buyer’ enters a region corresponding with the unit you wish to buy – Of course, only if you have the money will they spawn at your civilian/Hero.
• It is not just another Tower Defence – Believe it or not, this map is not another Tug of War of Tower defence!
• Games don’t take an hour + - Generally, the games don’t take that much longer than 20-30 mins, however depending on skill, games have been known to go for about 50 minutes.
• Easy to learn – Because it is based of common game types, the game is fairly easy to learn, but as with most games, takes a fair while to become a good all-round player ( Being able to play Undead as well as Survivor competently )
• Vintage – As close to the Original as possible ( Undead Reworked: StarCraft BroodWar)
