I'm just going to copy and paste the post I made on the battle.net forums:
I uploaded a new map that I've been working on, it's a game of competitive snake for up to 8 players. You play as the head of the snake (a queen), but you can't stop moving. You turn with the mouse.
To win, you have to reach 60 segments. There is "food" (zerglings) that spawn on the map and wander aimlessly. Eating them adds a roach to your tail. If another player crashes into your tail, they and all their roaches die. You die if you crash into your own tail, too.
There are also enemies (hydralisks) which also wander around, and you can't touch them. The same goes for any of the walls.
There are also powerups (high templars) which float in place. Picking one up does one of the following:
Slows you down for ten seconds
Speeds everyone else up for ten seconds
Gives you six segments.
Removes two segments from everyone else
Allows you to eat hydralisks for ten seconds, worth five segments each
Allows you to steal segments from other snakes by eating them for twenty seconds
All of this is displayed in two leaderboards, one to store powerup information and one for score (it also stores the highest a player has scored so far).
It's a lot of fun, and I've gotten only positive reception from my private testing so far. I have uploaded it, and I'd like people to give it a try. If no one joins, you can still try it alone (though obviously some of the powerups won't do anything). I'd like to get my game higher in popularity, of course, and I'd really appreciate the critiques and opinions. Right now it's extremely far down the list, but just go twenty or so pages and you can find it.
Thanks a lot
It's extremely fun, but no one is playing it. How can I get it popular, or even just get people to try it? Thanks. Feedback is always welcome, too.
It's Roach Snake v 1.0 in the map list, not Roach Snake 1.0 (that had a pretty severe camera bug)
If you want to contact me in game: Pakaran, character code 702
Looks very fun! Unfortunately, the popularity system is a complete bust and there is no way to make your map popular short of thousands of people deciding to scroll through the painful "Show More" list, But I will definitely try to keep an eye out for your map and play it if I find it. Nice work.
I know, I know :/ The best I can do is keep working to improve it and add new features and fix bugs, and wait until Blizzard fixes it. I'm going to start working on a new map in the meantime, and I think it'll be a four person cooperative pac-man like game (as suggested by someone on the battle.net forums).
Not sure how to do that, it doesn't let me choose anything other than US on the dropdown menu. If anyone has a link to a tutorial on how to do that, I'd appreciate it, because I can't find anything.
I uploaded a second video (I changed the art style and fixed a few bugs).
Sorry I'd try to get it published on the EU servers but I'm leaving for vacation very soon. I'll be back 8/15/2010, and I'll try to arrange something then.
This game is pretty amazing i must say. Will you be adding on to it to make multiple rounds, and voting on rounds, also different modes such as time attack, or trying to kill the other players. Theres a ton more playability of this map, its amazing as is.
Also have you seen the gravity physics engine thats in development, it might prevent your roaches from bunching up when taking tight corners etc.
also a cool idea is to have a 'race' mode, where you go from point a to point be vs other players in a really tight area with plenty of places to accidently smash into. When all players reach the end whoever has the most roaches wins that round.
Hey, thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, if you're on any servers other than the NA servers, you won't be able to play it until at least the 15th, because I'm posting this on my laptop, and I don't actually have any of the files with me here (vacation) :(. It should already be uploaded on the NA servers, though it's quite a few pages down though. Your suggestions sound really fun. I already added a voting system that lets you chose the amount of segments.
Once I get back home, I'll add another so you can choose the number of rounds, and I'll start working on different modes of play.

Version 1.0.06:
Can you add screenshots / a video? It would be a better explanation than just text :)

Okay I'll try to make a video soon, but you can always try it alone (it's at the bottom in terms of popularity though)
Updated with video :)

Cool.
Thought though, you could add a random level generator? I think there was a Random Dungeon generator somewhere on this site: http://forums.sc2mapster.com/development/project-workplace/2407-helrals-random-dungeon-map/
Just a thought :)
Pretty cool. Superior to my snake map I suppose :)

Awesome map right there. Multiplayer Snake - never thought that'd be something I'd see in my day.
