If you can remember a while back, there was a collaborated "Terrain" contest/round going on. That is where I got this Idea from.
The object of this map is to see what the community of Starcraft II can do on its own, everyone chipping in to hopefully create the first of its kind. Everyone will be able to add their own hero's (After being balanced and agreed to by the majority of the community) and Items.
Basically this is the first Phase of its Creation: Idea Generation
Post in here with any Idea's for an AOS (Eg. Amount of Lanes, Terrain Type) and I will add it onto this post. Once a sufficient amount of suggestions have been added and voted on; We will move onto Phase 2: Main Generation Positions
With Phase 2, Even though "This is a Comminity Based Map" In oder for them to be balanced and the terrain to go together smoothly, we need a couple of main persons to both balance and incorporate the Idea's/ Terrain into the map. However, people are still free to add their own to the map.
Scores:
Theme
Generic AOS (3 Lanes, 2 bases etc.) ||
Triple Base AOS ( 3 lanes, one to each base) ||
Upgrade Based System |
Tileset
Aiur |
Mixed/Varied |
Example Format:
AOS Idea: 3 Lanes, 1 Hero each, 1 shop in each base.
Voting for: Generic AOS
Note: The created map will have to be unprotected, if not it would sort've be going against the whole "Community" Flavor. I also have no mapping skills, so I will need someone to volunteer to merge all the creations together. Oh, and Im editing the formatting right now incase if it looks ugly =_=
Cool idea, but if I may bring this to your attention , you do realize that such a thing like this will most likely only yield a sub-par Dota map?. The quality wont be as good vs a dedicated team.
Also, Ideas are nothing without presentation. Thus I dont hold out much hope on this becoming popular. Its possible but not probable.
If however its like just a fun project and everyone is comfortable adding in here/there/whenever they can(which seems to be the case). Then by all means, gl hf!;p
I vote generic AoS. I also vote to abandon the war3 hero mechanic and go back to the Starcraft roots of an upgrade based advancement system. I don't mean just basic damage/attack speed/range/armor upgrades, I mean 2-3 upgrades for each characters abilities, along with researching new abilities.
This project would need a dedicated team leader to oversee and balance heroes. Since it's a community "let's see how awesome we can be" sort of map, I don't think a story-driven model is appropriate. An extremely varied map, where space platforms merge into jungles which merge into volcanic regions would be cool.
I'd be more than happy to contribute a hero or two.

For those who do not know, AOS stands for Aeon of Strife which was one of the first of its kind.
The play style of an AOS is similar to that of dota.
Edit: We could make the 3 base, 3 lane theme look like the Tri-Force.....
I vote Triple Base AOS
Another note, seeing as its Aeon of Strife, the ideal tile set would be Aiur, thats if your basing this map on the story rather than game play.
I like the idea. I vote for
If the terrain turns out good. Ill try to create one hero for you! (atleast abilities, I dont know how to level up heroes :( )

@PirateArcade | I make games | Ask me things on Discord
We might have to change Phase 2: From terrain Generation to Positions, E.g "Main Terrainer", "Team Leader"
What about allowing users to have a custom skill set, allowing them to choose their base abillities?
If more people dont join in the project, Im afraid that it will be a 'No Go'....
