I've been working on a nice map I've had in mind for some time now that has been in works for about a month.
The map Is now about to be released into beta testing for the EU servers, and I hoped to get plenty of feedback (see below for contacts)
Scavengers
what is scavengers?
Scavengers is doodad-heavy, borderlands-themed hero arena based upon traveling and scavenging pretty much anything you can find from vehicles to grenades, first aid kits and most importantly, cash.
Borderlands? so its an FPS?
Scavengers is not an FPS, in fact, the gameplay does not resemble borderlands in any way whatsoever, but the theme of the world does quite a bit.
You as your class explore the abandomed wasteland around a small shanty town in the middle of nowhere. The game lasts for a total of 20 minuets, from day to midnight.
Once midnight falls, the player with the most cash wins, rather simple.
So, how do you get this 'cash'?
The wasteland is full of item spawns, some of those may spawn cash. Killing other players will also make them drop some of the cash they collected, better hurry up and pick it up before someone else does!
What about those grenades you mentioned earlier?
Other items may spawn, such as grenades, that can be used to help you kill other players. Items such as first aid kits to heal yourself, or even cans of the delicious Dreadbull, because Dreadbull gives you wins, cardiac arrest and hyper speed.
Wont walking endlessly, looking for items, take forever, and may even make combat avoidable?
True, but other things you may find across the wasteland are abandoned vehicles, some fast, some slow, some equipped with giant guns.
So, if you use items to kill enemies or heal yourself, what kind of difference does each class have?
Each class has 1 special passive ability, and 1 (currently, more will be added) special ability that requires no item pickups. Not to mention stat differences, from speed to health, every class is different. Currently only 4 classes are in the game, but more are planned to be released over time, up to a (currently planned, but might increase) maximum of 8.
And if you die?
Nothing much, some cash is dropped, and after a few seconds you come back to life at the exact same spot, but with all items (not cash) taken from you.
Sounds like a nice polished game, maybe I should try it out.
Yeah, polished its not... yet. the game is just now entering beta phase and I believe, no... I'm sure theres bugs and mistakes not yet fixed. not to mention future luxury features not added (such as running over critters with vehicles, 2v2v2v2v2 mode and more).
This Friday the 7th, the map will be uploaded to the EU battle.net 2.0 server for the public, and my email ([email protected]) including sc2mapster.com message box will be eagerly waiting feedback and comments on just what is wrong, what could be better, what needs to change, balance, and more.
I want YOU to help me make this map better and more polished, as I visioned it to be, because the bottom line, my final goal, is for it to be just fun and give its players a smile on their face.
Problem was that during working on the map my hard disk completely burned due to temperature and all save files were gone. I was to depressed to really begin everything from scratch as I lost faith in the concept.
Therefore the concept is completely free for anyone who wished to take it up, enjoy and let me know how it turns out :]
Funny trailer, very well done, and the game itself could be fun. Actually, it reminds me of an old map I made in W3FT when I was something like 14-15. Pretty much the same concept, except instead of scavenging there were units on the map that you could kill to gain gold (the amount of gold earned depends on which unit type you kill).
Too bad about Aiurfrica though... I really would have loved playing this.

I'd like talk about a little older subject.
For those who remember me, I've been hanging around this site since early beta (April or so)
I've had a WIP called Wild Aiurfrica (http://www.sc2mapster.com/maps/wild-aiurfrica-work-progress/) that has been frozen.
Problem was that during working on the map my hard disk completely burned due to temperature and all save files were gone. I was to depressed to really begin everything from scratch as I lost faith in the concept.

Nice intro video :) I lol'ed at the cow vs cow
Want to see cows, too, but the vid is not available in germany :(
I will attach the movie to download for those who cannot view Sony music entertainment :)

The trailer I actually made just for fun tbh, plus always wanted to parody the borderlands intro.
Still I have high hopes for this concept and hope it won't let me, and others down :]
thoughts?
Does anyone have problem uploading?
The upload is staying on 0% for ovee an hour now.
Edit: the map is not yet uploaded because for some reason the uploader in not working? does anyone know how to solve this issue>
