I disagree, this helps with identifying good and solid information over someone trashtalking.
However, I would honestly rather +rep the guy who posted instead of liking the post itself, so for future posts people can see, who already contributed to the community.
€ just looked at the left side, and there is reputation as well, it seems. I assume, it is tied to the "like" - button?

yeah, but I hate Rep and Like wars... they plague forums
I only frequented forums without those features before. I guess, we will see, how it goes. Lets hope, it does, what it is intended to do most likely: Motivate people to create informative posts of great quality.
Honestly, I don't care about my own reputation at all. Just like the post count, it will sort of build up over time. Just another number on the profile.
€ Oh well, my first post contradicts this statement big time xD. I just made it for fun, though
Wheter people like or dislike this new system, I think you are all missing the point:
CURSE IS FINALLY WORKING ON THIS OUTDATED FORUM SOFTWARE!!! YEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!
Drinks on the house! (as long as you pay for them yourself, of course)
Also, I think it would've been cool if they also added "dislike" options so that posts could work like on the bnet or sc2armory forums (Too many dislikes, post gets practically hidden)
We've been working on backend stuff for the forums for a while now. Last week we deployed fixes for view counting, added some requested info to the user's info like location, a send pm link, the datetime changes and more visibly surfacing the permalink. More improvements are coming.
As far as likes and reputation: Liking will +1 the post, and +1 the author of the post. There is no downvoting because it leads to negativity and dislike/downvote trolling.
im sorry i love all the other things, but the DateTime changes are terrible on the front page, Good work, but could you please remove it from that one box.
By the way, I've already opened a ticket with curse involving the detailed time stamps. They should be fixed, hopefully. ;) They're working on this stuff in the background all the time, and it does take time.... I'm sure they'll have it fixed soon.
And now we start the race to who can get 1k reputation....
We just deployed a small update that condenses them a bit. As far as the front page, we'll see about getting that fixed. I do also want to introduce a bit of JS that converts the time to your local timezone instead of always showing UTC.
Its still pretty large and pretty terrible, Its multiple Lines per post, Where as it use to be single lines. It hurts the eyes. Thanks for showing that you are trying to make it better though that alone is appreciated.

This was purely to shorten it in the other displays. Front page will be addressed separately, as will the last login info in the sidebar. Those are not supposed to use the generalized datetime rendering.
Yeah, I'm not sure if I like ability to rate people. On the other hand it's finally possible to give back something to all those awesome tutorials and help posts, but then again you could always post a "thank you". I'm feeling like a grumpy old man hatin on everything progressive and trendy.
Apparently one like on your post equals 1 reputation, did a test on a friend's post for kicks. Now if only we had a dislike feature, I'd shoot for -100 !
I don't really like change either, especially something so closely resembling a popularity system.
Guess the only question now is, who will be the first to go over 9000.
...so I expect you to like this one :)

Stupid Addition I'd rather the stupid over Detailed Time-stamp be removed

I liked your OP kueken and your rep gained +1.
Let's just hope this doesn't turn into Hive Workshop now :3
Yes, 2 likes for the post, 2 rep for me. Seems to work that way.
Just how bad was it? xD

Awesome Thanks for the info.

It felt like people were addicted to increased reputation. They did everything they could to have an increased reputation.

Btw, it feels good to have views back =D
