So what I'm trying to do is change the normal mouse cursor you see to a different icon.
What I did was first change the players race to a specific race so they will get the same icon each time for their cursor. Then I went to the cursors tab in the data editor and found that there were multiple cursors with the same icon. So then I tried changing them all but none of them worked.
Please note I have already been able to change the cursor you see when you hover over an enemy. I just can't get the normal cursor that you see to change. Please help, thanks in advance.
I did go into the data editor and looked into the cursors. I made the race terran so i changed all the cursors that had the terran mouse pointer into the icon i wanted. It didn't work.
Edit: I tried it. I changed "Arrow (unnamed)" 's icon from cursor.dds to the icon i wanted. I saved my map exited starcraft 2 and the editor. I then loaded them back up and it didnt change.
Ludwigvan1 i'm guessing you didnt hide any of the UI
Edit: nvm about hiding UI. It occured to me that maybe hiding certain elements of the UI might be affecting it. I then made it show the entire UI and didnt help.
actually, I dont want to upload this map. But, maybe what I said was wrong . But what I did worked. i changed every cursor that looked like the standard cursor and changed the image to a random cursor. Try this too and it might work.
Ok. I'll try changing all the cursors to a diff symbol so ill know what one changes it. But can you just start a new map and change the cursor in there. It's not like you'll need to place a unit or anything to see the cursor.
Edit:
Ok i changed any icon that had anything like cursor.dds as the texture including the zerg and protoss ones. I then closed the editor and saved. I also closed starcraft 2. I opened the editor tested the map and still it didn't work. Nothing changed
I found something very odd. I found that the cursor change works for zerg and protoss but not terran.
Edit: Ok i figured this thing out. If you want to change the cursor you can't use terran race. You then change the Arrow cursor icons.
What's funny is that in my map I wanted to change the icons for minerals/vespene... and my races were all custom races which defaulted to terran UI... so I tried importing custom images and overriding... and it never worked properly... THEN I switched everyone to be Protoss and it works now.

y does it matter so much?
I'm making a shooter that has the camera looking down on your unit, so I want the mouse cursor to look like a crosshair.
Also asking why I want it in this case is a waste of time. Knowing why I want it won't change a thing.
there is a data type called cursor. maybe you can change the normal cursor there.

i tried it too and it worked. you have to save and restart the editor and sc2beta.
No. Ill try that.

Maybe you could attach a map that has it working and I can see what i'm doing different.
I believe you can set up a trigger that changes your cursor. All you have to do is create one in the data editor
Edit: Nevermind - i was thinking of set unit highlight cursor which only changes it when you highlight a unit.
I changed the 3 wait cursors. Then restarted sc2beta and I saw them as my main cursor.
@Ludwigvan1: Go
Could you please attach the map because it still isn't working after i changed all three and restarted sc2 and the editor.

interesting. Very odd this all happens on terran.
What you could do is make a trigger unit that moves in sync with the cursor and go from there...
